HBO 'True Detective' Season 2 Air Date, Premiere Release, Plot: Creator Nic Pizzolatto Says He Has Secret Casting List, Denies Rumors
True fans of the break out HBO show "True Detective" might be surprised to hear about the latest controversy surrounding the casting and episodes of Season 2. Nic Pizzolatto, the creator and showrunner of "True Detective," has announced that he intends to quit the show but will still write for the show's next two seasons. As the lone writer for the series, Pizzolatto said that he cannot see himself writing for the series for over three years. Now there is a big question of whether HBO will be able to continue "True Detective" without him since he has been with the show since it started.
If HBO continued "True Detective" without Pizzolatto would not be the first time that a show has continued after a writer changeup. This happened previously with "Supernatural," which CW continued with a Season 6 even without its main creator. Nevertheless, "Supernatural" continued to have a big following and was the longest running on air drama of the network. CW also continued the "Gilmore Girls" series after its main creator decided to leave the show.
As far as the casting rumors went for Season 2, Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain were said to be included in the cast of the next "True Detective." This rumor has been refuted by Pizzolatto, who said that the only true source for such information is him and two other guys. He revealed that there had been no final castings for Season 2 yet but admitted that he had discussed it with one person, adding that he has his own list that is only known to him. He intends to look for a director first before finalizing the cast.
Pizzolatto also dispelled rumors that "True Detective" Season 2 would be led by a female cast. He stressed that these are all rumors, and those waiting for Season 2 should wait for announcements coming from Pizzolatto. The second season of "True Detective" on HBO will premiere in January of 2015.
