A 12-year-old Fresno girl was rescued by California authorities following her abduction by an admitted pedophile from Virginia.

Authorities said on Friday that the girl may have been convinced to run away from someone after her parents reported her missing.

The Central California Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) took over the investigation from that point forward, said a report from ABC 30.

ICAC discovered that 40-year-old Nathan Larson, whom she met on social media, took a flight from Fresno to Virginia, went to the girl's home and persuaded her to sneak out of her house a 2 a.m. Monday, reported CBS San Francisco.

They took a rideshare car to reach the Fresno Airport with a flight was bound to reach Washington, DC with a layover in Denver, Colorado.

When they arrived at the airport, she made the girl a wig to appear older and to pretend to be mute during the flight, Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims said on Saturday.

Fresno law enforcement contacted the Denver police and asked for them to look for Larson and the girl in the airport, which they did.

Abduction Victim Remains Unharmed

It was a near-miss for the girl who was not harmed and reunited with her family later that day.

Even though she was not physically harmed, the detectives found evidence of inappropriate touching when they were at the airport.

Mims said the way Larson had been grooming the girl was "sophisticated" and asked anyone who may have been in any inappropriate contact with Larson to contact the authorities.

"This particular case is extremely disturbing ," Mims said. "We believe that there are other victims out there."

She also urged parents to check their children's internet activity and the communication they are having with people online.

Larson faces charges for kidnapping, child abduction, soliciting pornography from a minor and meeting a child for the intention of sex, reported Fox News.

He will be extradited to Fresno where more serious charges await him.

Authorities Uncover Disturbing Link with Child Abuse

When Larson was taken into custody, the authorities found some disturbing things about him.

Investigators found that Larson was an advocate for pedophilia and runs a website that encourages child rape and sharing child abuse material.

They also found that in the two months that Larson and the girl were in communication, he convinced her to send him naked photos of herself.

Larson first generated headlines in 2018 when he announced he would be running as an independent candidate for Virginia's 10th District.

In a report from USA Today, it was said that Larson has a hate-filled "campaign manifesto" where he described himself as a fan of Adolf Hitler.

He also said he wanted to restore "white supremacy, rebuild the patriarchy, eliminate child labor laws and legalize early marriage.

He was also an advocate of the legalization of incest and the distribution of child sexual abuse material.

The run for Congress was short-lived since he dropped out after only three months.
