Demi Lovato shared an empowering Instagram story about singlehood on Saturday.

The 28-year-old singer reflected on what it has been like to be single in a brief message for her Instagram followers.

Lovato said she doesn't have to be in a relation to feel happy.

"The best part about being single is knowing that my happiness is coming from no other person than myself," Lovato wrote.

It has been about three months since she broke things off with ex-fiance Max Ehrich.

They started dating in March, at the start of the pandemic, and then Ehrich popped the question in July.

Ehrich Found Out About Split Through A Tabloid

In September, People confirmed that Lovato and Ehrich called off their engagement after only two months following the Malibu proposal in July 22.

A source told the celebrity news site that the decision had been tough for both parties, who decided do go their own ways to focus on their own careers.

At the time, the source said the exes were respectful of each other and "will always cherish the time they spent together."

But Ehrich said he found out the relationship was over through a tabloid, reported E! Online.

A source told ET Online that Lovato felt like Ehrich "wasn't being honest about things."

They added that as Lovato tried to "get to a good place" in life, she wasn't willing to stick with things that didn't have a positive impact on her.

The source said the breakup to the whirlwind romance was "for the best."

Lovato Pokes Fun at 2020 Whirlwind Romance

Lovato also poked fun at the fast pace her romantic life took over the quarantine period and how 2020 affected her.

The year started great for her. She recalled performing at the Grammy and singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl while hosting the People's Choice Awards.

But when the pandemic hit there was some altering that occurred in her daily life.

"...everything shut down, so I did what everyone else did, I went into lockdown mode and got engaged," she said.

She said she got into a lot of things like painting, photography and meditation-also things she barely had time to explore when she had to come to show after show.

Last month, Lovato told Seth Meyers that she was using the lockdown period to get to know herself better.

She added that the quarantine period helped her build better relationships with her family friends and dogs, which she never had the chance to do when she was working so much.

In September, she also told Apple Music's Zane Lowe that 2020 gave her room for "a lot of growing."

This year, she realized that being perfect was impossible to achieve.

"...you could literally be the most perfect-looking person on the planet, but there will still be something scientifically imperfect with you," she said, adding that the realization didn't come to her easily.

Lovato is still working on new music while rocking her new bleach blonde pixie hairstyle.
