Police officers in Peru dressed as Santa Claus and as elves to help bust drugs in Peru. This helped them to arrest unsuspecting drug suspects.

Peruvian Police authorities adopted the characters of Santa Claus and as elves to help bust illegal drug operations in the country.

This has long been a problem in the country, and now law enforcement authorities are determined to end this problem.

This is the time of the year when the fictional Santa Claus and his elves are preparing to give gifts to more than 2.2 billion children around the world.

his is what kids are waiting for, a gift that they wished for Santa Claus. But in Peru, Santa Claus gave a gift of security against illegal drug dealers.

As Christmas Day is approaching, Peru's police officers adopted the characters as Santa Claus and his elves not to cheer up the kids, but to arrest illegal drug dealers.

They disguised as popular characters this season to help the country bust illegal drugs.

Police officers released a video online, wherein one officef who is dressed as Santa Claus can be seen smashing through a door with a sledgehammer, conducting a search of a home, and leading drug suspects out in handcuffs. They eventually captured the suspects.

One of the agents was captured on video yelling at the suspect in the Villa El Salvador district of Lima: "We are the police! We are the green squad! This is an anti-drug operation!"

Meanwhile, Peru National Police Col. Jorge Angulo told America TV, "We are able to imitate any type of character. This is a special character. We have had the opportunity to raid a home for the issue of drug sales."

We Are Mitu also reports that the Peruvian Police authorities arrested four suspects and seized 4,564 packets of cocaine hidden in three houses. The suspects were left speechless upon seeing Santa Claus arresting them.

Cops often disguise themselves during drug bust

According to reports, there is a special division of Lima's police force that has been known to disguise to catch criminals. Sometimes they dress as street sweepers, vendors, or homeless people in order to patrol their territory and detect criminal activity.

Since this was created, this has been proven effective in arresting and monitoring the activities of criminals in Lima.

Crime, specifically drug-related, is an issue of special concern bot in Lima and Peru. La Prensa reports assaults, shootings, and killings even in broad daylight have contributed to the sense of insecurity.

It is important for police officers to intensify their campaign against crimes.

They have seen levels of drug-related crime, as gangs compete for the influence of the trafficking in the country that has become the second-largest producer of cocaine, behind Colombia.
