Winter Storm Plows Parts of U.S. Ahead of New Year's Eve
A strong winter storm moves through the Midwestern part of the United States on Tuesday, resulting in cancellation of hundreds of flights, closing coronavirus testing site, and unsuitable conditions for drivers.
The National Weather Service had released winter storm advisories for Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Nebraska, according to a Fox News report.
The winter storm dumped more than seven inches of snow by Tuesday afternoon as the system traversed the Cornhusker State, Nebraska.
Iowa also saw a heavy snowfall, which amounts to more than a foot. In Wisconsin, up to eight inches of snow were seen.
Chicago's Midway Airport has more than three inches of snow, while O'Hare International Airport reported 2.6 inches of snow in their area.
By Wednesday, more than six inches of snow were counted in Rockford Airport.
Transportation in most states have closed as snow fell, resulting visibility problems for drivers and pilots.
Nebraska's State Patrol officials have responded to more than 150 weather-related incidents.
Iowa's state Department of Transportation called on residents to delay travel plans due to the current weather condition.
Kansas and Illinois law enforcement also recorded several accidents.
Missouri's Department of Transportation said road were covered with snow.
Meanwhile, cold weather has extended all the way to Florida.
Freeze warnings have already been issued in the state.
Sunday is the last morning the South will experience wind chills, according to an ABC News Go report.
Just like last week, a new storm will cross the country from California to New York, bringing heavy rain, snow, ice, and strong winds.
The storm will reportedly move into San Francisco and Los Angeles on Sunday, bringing heavy rain, gusty winds, and mountain snow in the area.
Strong and severe thunderstorms are possible in Texas.

New Year's Eve Events
Meanwhile, New Year's Eve events in the United States were cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
However, the party and live performances will continue virtually.
Those who wants to watch can stream this on television, according to The Guardian report.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that the safest way to celebrate new year is to celebrate at home with the people who live with you, or virtually with friends and family.
"Staying home is the best way to protect yourself and other," the CDC was quoted on a report.
Aside from the New Year's Eve countdown in Manhattan, the annual New Year's Eve fireworks show on Las Vegas was also cancelled.
In addition, less of this area will be closed to traffic than in years past.
However, people who want to experience the Fremont Street Experience entertainment area can continue to do so.
This after paying for a $25 security wristband.
However, there will not be live music performances.
Meanwhile, planned New Year's Eve in Los Angeles caused criticisms as the are is currently being widely affected by the pandemic.
An Italian restaurant in the upscale LA area of Beverly Hills was advertising an indoor dinner for New Year's Eve.
The fine-dining restaurant left invitations in take-out bags, with a message saying to keep it discreet but spread the word to friends.
