Many Qualified Americans Start to Receive $600 Stimulus Checks
Many Americans and qualified residents in the country started to receive their $600 stimulus checks on Tuesday while the IRS started sending paper checks on Wednesday.
Millions of Americans and other qualified residents across the country started to receive their $600 direct stimulus checks on Tuesday night while the IRS said that they also began sending paper checks on Wednesday. This is part of the newest part of the $900 billion stimulus package.
Qualified Americans received $600 stimulus checks
After months of negotiations and disagreements over the total amount of the new stimulus package, lawmakers have finally delivered what millions of struggling Americans and qualified residents need amid the global pandemic. The federal government and the IRS started sending the stimulus checks.
According to NBC News, U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin confirmed that stimulus checks started to hit in different banks from Tuesday night until next week.
Mnuchin also added that the IRS also started on Wednesday sending paper checks for those qualified Americans and residents but do not have any bank information in their latest Tax returns.
Moreover, the $600 stimulus checks are just part of the $900 billion stimulus package that Pres. Trump signed it into law on Sunday night. Just two days after, the IRS and the federal government started to disburse the money. This is so far the fastest distribution of the aid.
It can be remembered that it took at least two weeks for the IRS to disburse the money during the CARES Act and until now many Americans still did not receive their stimulus checks.
On the other hand, there is still a pending standalone bill that will let residents in the country receive $2,000 stimulus checks. The House of Congress already approved this bill and it is now in the hands of the Republican-dominated House of Senate to approve the bill or not.
Americans testified receiving the stimulus checks
After Pres. Trump signed a $2.4 trillion government spending bill that includes the $900 billion Stimulus Package, millions of Americans started checking and waiting that the stimulus money will appear to in their bank accounts. Many testified and were happy that they receive the aid before New Year's eve.
One of them is Britanny Williams who received a total amount of $1,800, $600 each for herself and two sons who are six and eight years old. Under the new Stimulus Package, dependents under 18 years of age can also receive financial aid.
Williams shared, "Having this little bit really puts me at ease. Just kind of gives me a second to breathe." She also shared that works at a marketing company based in Colorado but decided to move to Mukilteo, Washington to be closer to her parents during the pandemic since she also lost some of her clients.
Michele Soto also received her stimulus check on Tuesday night. She was laid off from the tourism industry after the global pandemic worsens in the country. She said that she immediately made a credit card payment after receiving the financial aid.
This is a big relief for Soto because she shared that she drained her savings account in the first months of the pandemic, trying to keep up with rent and student loan payments while unemployed. Additionally, she also lost her lease and was effectively homeless until she was able to move in with her mother in Minnesota.
