A Portuguese woman who works as a pediatric assistant died two days after getting her first dose of the Pfizer vaccine, and results of the autopsy on her is still unknown.

The woman, identified as Sonia Acevedo, 41, suffered a "sudden death" roughly 48 hours since she received her Pfizer vaccine.

Acevedo died on New Year's Day and did not suffer adverse effects after getting her vaccine shot, reported Euro Weekly News.

Her body was discovered by her partner who had just returned from a trip to the stores.

The boyfriend then called for emergency help, and efforts to resuscitate Acevedo was delivered "without success.

Acevedo was one of the 538 health workers in Porto's IPO cancer hospital who were given a dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine last Wednesday.

The employers confirmed in a report from Daily Mail that Acevedo did get vaccinated against the coronavirus on that day.

They added that they were not notified about any "undesirable effect" the vaccine may have had in the hours afterwards.

An autopsy was expected to take place by Monday but results were not publicized yet, noted Portugal Resident.

The IPO Porto also said the explanation for a cause of death will "follow the usual procedures in these circumstances."

Acevedo Did Not Suffer from Health Problems

Acevedo's father, Abilio Acevedo told Portuguese daily Correio da Manha said her daughter was "okay" and did not have any health problems following the vaccine.

She dined with her family on New Year's Eve and appeared to have been in "perfect health" before leaving to spend time with her boyfriend.

He also said the mother-of-two didn't have any symptoms of COVID-19.

She also didn't have vices that could have compromised her health drastically like drinking alcohol or eating anything special or out of the ordinary.

"I don't know what happened. I just want answers...I want to know what led to my daughter's death," he said.

Health Worker Proudly Shared About Getting Vaccinated

Acevedo had been working at the IPO Porto, a cancer treatment institution in Portugal, for more than 10 years.

When she received her first dose of the vaccine, she proudly shared about the experience, the father recalled.

She even shared a photo of the fact on her Facebook account by sharing a selfie with a face mask and a caption "Covid-19 vaccinated."

The father told Portuguese press that he received a call informing him about the death around 11 a.m. on Friday, just hours after their last meal together.

He expressed frustrations on the incident and noted that when she left their holiday meal, "I never saw her alive again."

Acevedo's daughter Vania Figueredo also recalled that her mother just complained about the "normal" discomfort in the injected area, but she didn't notice anything different.

Portugal is home to more than 10 million people.

The country has so far reported some 7,100 death from the coronavirus and more than 427,000 cases.

Daily Mail noted that Portugal's first wave of the virus was "mild" but rose sharply into the second wave and again during the Christmas season.
