Kamala Harris Remains Mum on Mounting Cuomo Sexual Harassment Allegations

Vice President Kamala Harris continued to remain mum on the issue of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's sexual harassment allegations even after some notable individuals from Democrats and Republicans have already expressed their views and opinions.

Fox News reported that many members of both parties weigh in on the sexual harassment allegations from multiple women reporting Cuomo's inappropriate conduct. But Harris' voice was still absent in the conversation.

According to CBS News, Andrew Cuomo has been out of sight, but top Democrats in Washington D.C. could not avoid the topic about the governor, who is now under the fire.

Kamala Harris' Silent on Andrew Cuomo's Sexual Harassment Scandal

According to Fox News, Kamala Harris was a vocal opponent of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearing at the Senate in 2018. Kavanaugh came under fire after a series of women, including Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, claimed he had sexually assaulted them.

Fox News reported that Kamala Harris even said that she also believed and respected the women who had accused President Joe Biden of inappropriate touching in the past.

But now, with the emergence of three women accusing fellow Democrat Cuomo of harassment, Kamala Harris was silent whilst holding the second-highest office in the country.

For her part, White House Secretary Jen Psaki said that she believes Kamala Harris continues to feel the same way she felt when it comes to the issue of sexual assault, the New York Post reported.

Speaking on behalf of Biden and Harris, Psaki said both officials believe that each woman coming forward should be heard and be treated with dignity and respect. But Psaki stressed that while she speaks for Biden and Harris, both have not personally addressed the sexual harassment scandal.

Other prominent female Democrats have already expressed their views on the matter and supported a probe into the sexual harassment claims.

In a statement, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who also served as a senator from New York, said the allegations against Andrew Cuomo "brought forth raise serious questions that the women who have come forward and all New Yorkers deserve answers to."

Probe Into Sexual Harassment Claims Against Andrew Cuomo

The Hill reported that Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer said the sexual harassment allegations against Cuomo were "very troubling." However, he did not call for Cuomo's resignation.

Schumer noted that the allegations made by three women "are serious," adding that sexual harassment is unacceptable and must not be tolerated. Senator Kristen Gillibrand of New York echoed Schumer's statement, noting that the alleged behavior is "completely unacceptable."

According to CBS News, former deputy secretary for economic development and special adviser to the governor, Lindsey Boylan, accused Andrew Cuomo of giving her an unwanted kiss and stating inappropriate comments. Former health policy adviser to Cuomo, Charlotte Bennett, also said the governor asked her about her sex life and even asked her if she ever had sex with older men.

The two women's claims prompted New York Attorney General Letitia James to launch a probe, and findings will be made public once it's completed. After James' announcement, a certain Anna Ruch came forward and accused Cuomo of inappropriately touching her and even asked her if he could kiss her at a 2019 wedding reception.

Andrew Cuomo has already denied sexually harassing anyone. However, some members of his own party are still calling for him to step down.
