Crunchyroll Guest Pass, Manga, Xbox 360 News: Streaming Service Offers Titles Like 'Kill la Kill', 'Attack on Titan', 'Fairy Tail'
Crunchyroll, the leading video service focused on streaming East Asian media, just announced some good news for Xbox 360 owners, saying that they would no longer need an Xbox Live Gold membership in order to take advantage of their services. This time around, Xbox owners will only have to download the Crunchyroll app in the Apps Hub of the Xbox 360 Live dashboard. Although this streamlines the process and makes it easier, they would still need a Premium Crunchyroll Membership, which is currently being offered for free on a 14-day trial basis.
The online streaming service offers guest passes for interested users who wish to try out their premium membership. However, to avoid user abuse, every guest can only redeem 10 guest passes within six months beginning with the use of the first guess pass. After the six-month period, a user can redeem 10 guest passes once again.
Crunchyroll services include streaming of anime, drama, manga, electronic entertainment and auto racing content. It was founded in 2006 by a group of UC Berkeley graduates. It currently delivers content to more than five million members of the online community worldwide. The streaming service has over 25,000 videos and 12,000 hours of Anime, Live-Action titles and Korean Drama among others. It runs on several platforms including Playstation 3, Xbox LIVE, television set-top boxes, iPad, iPhone, Android and other devices.
User reception over the latest news has generally been positive, especially now that the services of Crunchyroll will be more accessible and generally more usable. It also helps that the app will be available for next gen consoles. Crunchyroll is already on PS4, and Microsoft news said that it will be available on the Xbox One as well -- though no specific date has been given. Guest passes are available for redemption on the Crunchyroll website, and access is good for 14 days at a time.
