With this year's E3 conference in the rearview mirror, gamers can now look forward to the all upcoming goodies that came along with the myriad announcements made during last week's event.

For the millions of Minecraft players, word came that the Minecraft PlayStation 4 Edition would be expansive, yet still friendly toward the Minecraft PlayStation 3 Edition, International Business Times reported.

Owen Hill, chief word officer of Mojang, the company that developed Minecraft, revealed several new features for the PS4 version, including worlds that are 36 times bigger.

"Minecraft on PlayStation 4 will feature worlds 36 times bigger than the ones you might be used to on PlayStation 3," Hill wrote on Sony's PlayStation.Blog. "Existing players will be able to import PlayStation 3 saves to the PlayStation 4 version, [allowing] them to continue work on an immense structure or delve even deeper towards the Nether."

Additionally, 4J Studios, the developer that brought Minecraft to Sony and Microsoft, developed the PS4 edition to use the console's new DualShock 4 controller. Users can navigate through the menus and craft sections by using the controller's touchpad, while the Share button on the controller allows the player to access the game's social media aspect, according to IBT.

Hill also mentioned that a "Sony-specific DLC" will be included in the game and that there will be eight-player support online. Four of the players could log in using the same PS4 console and its split-screen capabilities.

Microsoft Studios also showed off some new screenshots of the upcoming Minecraft Xbox One Edition at E3 2014. The new Skin Pack 6 will be released for both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions, while "Killer Instinct" skins are coming to Xbox exclusively.

The next-gen console versions of Minecraft are due out in August.
