Authorities said the shootout sparked from an argument of a group of men amid hundreds of people present in the park, WBRC reported.
The 32-year-old woman was found fatally shot in the backseat of a car at the park. The five injured victims with ages ranging from four years old to 21 years old were brought to a hospital, New York Post reported. Authorities said they were already in stable condition.
Police said no arrests were made as of late Sunday. Authorities asked the public for help in identifying the individuals involved in the latest Alabama shooting.
Shooting in Alabama's Tuscaloosa County
Meanwhile, five people were hurt in a shootout outside a bar in Tuscaloosa county, also in Alabama, on Saturday. Two men were accused of opening fire at Roxy's Bar in Tuscaloosa, according to a Fox 23 News report.
Tuscaloosa Police Department spokesperson Stephanie Taylor said the incident happened in the Temerson Square area at around 2:47 a.m.
The Temerson Square is located in the downtown area of Tuscaloosa county. Authorities have identified the suspect as Joshua Marquese Coston, 23, and Joe Nathan Brothers Jr., 22.
Authorities said that Coston and Brothers started shooting at a group of people with whom they had been involved in an argument earlier in the night outside the bar. These individuals fired back, injuring Coston during the encounter.
In a tweet, Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox said the individuals involved in the shooting were not from the county and must be held accountable.
Maddox further noted that they will be working with the business owners and landlords in the area to see what the local government can do to prevent similar situations.
Each of the suspects is facing counts of attempted murder, one count of shooting into an occupied building, and three counts of shooting into an unoccupied building.
The suspects will also face three counts of shooting into an unoccupied vehicle. A $360,000 bail was set for each man.
In 2012, at least 17 people were hurt when a man opened fire at Copper Top Bar, also in Temerson Square. AL.com reported that Coston was already arrested on a capital murder charge in 2016. However, it was dismissed for lack of evidence.
The Neighborhood Scout has recorded a total of 156,179 crimes in the state of Alabama in 2019. Among these numbers, 25,046 accounted to be violent crimes, while 131,133 were property crimes. The data also showed that one in 196 people from Alabama has a chance to be a victim of a violent crime.
