Harvey Weinstein Secretly Charged In Rape Cases in Los Angeles
Harvey Weinstein was secretly indicted on rape charges by a Los Angeles grand jury several weeks ago. The film producer is already serving a 23-year sentence in New York for rape and sexual assault.
Now, he is also facing 11 counts in California, including rape and sexual battery in five incidents between 2004 and 2013, Fox News reported. If Weinstein is convicted, he could face up to 140 years in prison.
According to a Page Six report, the indictment remains under seal but is expected to be publicly revealed on Monday during an extradition hearing. It added that an arrest warrant for Harvey Weinstein would also be made public.

Harvey Weinstein Guilty
On Feb. 24, 2020, Harvey Weinstein was found guilty of a criminal sexual act in first-degree and third-degree rape. The Hollywood mogul is convicted of sexually assaulting former production assistant Mimi Haleyi in 2006 and raping former actress Jessica Mann in 2013, BBC News reported.
Judge James Burke ordered Weinstein to be held in custody, and on March last year, he was sentenced to 23 years imprisonment for rape and sexual assault.
While serving his 23-year prison sentence, court documents filed in New York showed several sexual offenses committed to four other women dating from 1984 to 2013.
Weinstein's attorneys are reportedly expected to ask for a delay of his extradition from New York so that he can be tried in Los Angeles, citing his "poor" health conditions, which would put him at higher risk due to the current pandemic.
Harvey Weinstein could be extradited to Los Angeles within 30 days of tomorrow's hearing.
In the Los Angeles case, Weinstein reportedly sexually assaulted model-actress Lauren Young in a Beverly Hills hotel in February 2013. Prosecutors alleged that Weinstein also raped an Italian model at another Beverly Hills hotel in February 2013. He also allegedly assaults three more women in Beverly Hills hotels.
Harvey Weinstein Appealing
On Monday, Harvey Weinstein has filed an appeal regarding his rape and assault convictions in an attempt to have his 23-year prison sentenced revoke.
Weinstein's lawyers said that the 69-year-old film producer was denied a fair trial, AFP News reported. His lawyers also claimed that several women whose allegations were not included in the cases must not be allowed to testify as prior bad acts witnesses.
"The American criminal justice system was designed to convict defendants based on their conduct -- not their general character," the attorneys said in the report.
His lawyers also argued that the jury's impartiality was compromised as one juror had written a book about older men preying on younger women.
About 90 women came forward and said that they had experienced sexual misconduct with Weinstein to some extent. These include Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek.
Kate Beckinsale also accused Weinstein of offering her alcohol during their first meeting. She was 17 years old at the time, according to a USA Today report.
Beckinsale said that she assumed that it would be in a conference room since that what was common. But when she arrived, reception told her to go to his room and was greeted by Weinstein in his bathrobe.
Another English actress and model also stepped forward and said that the movie producer attempted to kiss her. Cara Delevingne added that Harvey Weinstein started to brag about the actresses he bedded before when they were alone.
