White House Backtracks on President Biden Using Crisis Referring to Border Situation
The White House has backpedaled after President Biden referred to the situation in the U.S.-Mexico border as a crisis last weekend, New York Post reported.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki noted in her daily briefing that the president does not "actually believe" that the situation is a crisis and that he only misspoke the word.
It is not beyond the knowledge that the Biden Administration does not address the border issue as a crisis, and they have avoided using the word since Biden took office, USA Today reported.

White House on President Biden using the Word Crisis
Psaki argued during her press briefing on Monday that President Biden is referring to the crisis in Central America that has caused migrants from these countries to flee and seek asylum on the U.S. border.
"The problem was that the refugee part was working on the crisis that ended up on the border with young people," Biden said as he explains the decision of the White House not to "immediately increase" the admission of migrants.
Psaki furthered that the president does not view the children seeking asylum on the U.S. Border as a crisis because they are fleeing from economic hardships, violence, and other dire circumstances.
It can be remembered that Mexican President Lopez Obrador will present welfare programs to President Biden in their aim to curb the uptick of migrants fleeing from their homeland. Lopez Obrador believes the program he wishes to extend across Central America would provide jobs for the migrants.
Views on White House Back Pedalling
Despite the efforts of the White House addressing the "misused" word said by the president, some Republicans attacked Psaki's statements made during the White House press briefing.
Representative Virginia Foxx from North Carolina noted that "Disaster, Catastrophe, and Failure" can replace the word crisis in case the White House is planning to replace the president's word of choice.
The tweet of the North Carolina representative made a thread composed of different sympathies from the people of Twitter.
USA Today noted that the current administration is facing angst against Republicans due to an uptick of migrants - most of them unaccompanied migrant children - seeking refuge or asylum in the borders.
In March, the U.S. Customs and Border protection encountered about 172,000 migrants seeking asylum, a significant increase from 100,441 migrants in February.
Psaki noted that the root causes of problems in Central America need to be addressed to prevent more influx of migrants from the region in the next coming years.
The White House press secretary also noted that the president believes that the crisis in Central America is a situation that needs time and effort as expenditure in addressing the causes of migration from the region.
