"Jersey Boys", a Tony Award-winning musical, is currently on its way to the big screen, as GK Films got the rights in 2010 to produce a film adaptation of the musical. However, after the producing company had found scriptwriters and a director to begin the casting and the creation of the film, Warner Bros. dropped the film plans in November of that year.

Then last May, Frankie Vallie, the lead singer of The Four Seasons, said in an interview that the film was still going to be produced. He also added that that he would be contributing to his character's casting for the film version.

"Jersey Boys" is a biography drama about the musical group The Four Seasons. The story presents in a documentary-style format the formation, life, success, and eventual break-up of the 1960s rock and roll group.

Its structure is featured in such a way that each of the four seasons is presented and narrated by every band member, telling the story from his own perspective on the music and history of the band.

The musical is titled "Jersey Boys" because of the fact that all the members of The Four Seasons came from New Jersey. John Lloyd Young will portray the leader of the band Frankie Valli, while Eric Bergen will play Bob Gaudio, Michael Lomenda will play Nick Massi, and Vincent Piazza will play Tommy DeVito.

Reception of the film has encountered mixed reviews. For instance, the film received a 50 percent rating from the popular online movie review website Rotten Tomatoes. On the other hand, Metacritic gave Jersey Boys a score of 51 from out of a total of 100. However, fans of the musical can still enjoy the group's famous songs including "Stay," "Can't Take My Eyes Off You," and "Big Girls Don't Cry," among other favorites.

The film version of "Jersey Boys" was directed by Clint Eastwood and is scheduled for release on June 20, 2014.
