A tree trimmer from Butte County, California was charged with murder after police reported that the suspect slashed the throats of his victims.

The heinous crime prompted a multi-agency investigation between the Butte County Sheriff's Office and Tehama County Sheriff's Office.

The new charges were filed in Butte County Superior Court on Thursday by Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsay and Tehama County District Attorney Matte Rogers.

California Tree Timmer Faces Additional Charges

Authorities identified the suspect as Ryan Scott Blinston, 37, of Butte County. Blinston was charged for the murders of Loreen Severs, Sandra George, and Vicky Cline.

The said victims were 88, 82, and 57 years old, respectively. Apart from the murder charges, People reported that Blinston was also accused of the alleged arson of Cline's car and attempted murder of Homer Severs, 91, the husband of victim Loreen.

In a press release, the Butte County District Attorney's Office said the charges against Ryan Scott Blinston were filed while he was already in jail for a different attempted murder on June 14, 2020, KIRO 7 reported.

Ramsay and Rogers further noted that the collaboration between the two counties would enable "to seek justice" while ensuring that "no one else will be harmed."

How Did the Suspect Murder His Victims?

The investigation revealed that Ryan Scott Blinston was working for a tree-trimming service on May 18, 2020, at the Severs' Los Molinos home.

On May 23, 2020, Blinston allegedly killed Loreen Severs and attempted to kill her husband as the suspect forcefully entered their residence. Both victims had cuts on their throats, leaving Loreen Severs dead while her husband survived the incident.

On June 4, 2020, Blinston also took part in a tree-trimming job in the home of Sandra George. On the same day, the tree trimmer returned to George's residence and killed her by slashing her throat.

On June 6, 2020, an acquaintance of Blinston, Vicky Cline, was last seen alive with him in downtown Oroville. Blinston allegedly set Cline's car on fire later that night.

Cline's body was found by a fisherman in the Feather River on June 21, revealing damage to her throat just like the other victims.

The investigation also led the authorities to discover blood and DNA evidence on the suspect's car that matched with Cline.

On June 14, 2020, the Butte County Sheriff's Office SWAT team, serving an arrest warrant to Blinston, discovered another attempted murder when the cops heard a man's muffled screams and loud banging as they approached the motorhome Blinston was residing.

The motorhome resident later told cops that he was asleep in his bed when Ryan Scott Blinston suddenly attacked him and cut his throat.

Luckily, the resident was able to kick the tree trimmer out of the motorhome and lock the door. And as Blinston tried to get back again inside the motorhome, the SWAT team coincidently arrived. The tree trimmer from northern California is set to appear in court on Thursday.
