California Representative Maxine Waters considered filing a lawsuit against Fox News over the new outlet's air marshals report during her flight to Minneapolis from Washington D.C. It can be remembered that Maxine Waters was placed under fire when a judge for the Chauvin trial case said that her comments in front of the demonstrators could lead to the event of a conviction. Her comments also prompted the GOP to sensor her. However, they failed to do so.

The Grio reported that the news outlet cited a complaint filed with the U.S. House Committee on Ethics and Air Marshall National Council president. Because of this, Congresswoman Waters labeled the report as false claims against her.

Maxine Waters Retaliated on "False Claims" by News Outlet

Waters rebuked the claims of the Fox News report on Saturday, arguing that she received a death threat where a caller referred to her as the n-word and she deserved to be "hung by a rope for treason." Waters also argued that the "false claim", as well as other previous reports, prompted continuous death threats made against her, threatening the news organization that she would sue them.

"Each and every one of these claims is an absolute lie," said Waters in a statement acquired by The Grio. Waters also underscored that she never requested or utilized "Capitol Police, Secret Service, or U.S. Air Marshal presence on that [Washington to Minneapolis] or any of my flights."

Waters also emphasized that Fox News is an "organization that charades as a news outlet while manufacturing lies, claiming them as truths," and promulgates the misinformation to Americans. The representative also retaliated on the documents that indicated her request for police protection, arguing that those were "absolute lies." The congresswoman labeled the leak of her travel information as "deeply disturbing" and puts her life at risk.

The Grio noted that the Capitol Police is investigating the source of the security assessment leak.

What Did the News Outlet Report?

Fox News reported that Sonya Hightower LoBasco, executive director of the Air Marshal National Council, submitted a "formal congressional ethics complaint" involving the flight of Representative Maxine Waters from Washington D.C. to Minneapolis on April 17. Basco's complaint alleged Waters to be already accompanied by two-armed Capitol Police and two U.S. Secret Service agents, then requested for another two air marshals and two more marshals on touchdown, to escort her to the airport.

"Air Marshals can only be assigned to high-risk flights. That means flights that have been deemed through our vetted process that have security risks," said LoBasco in Fox News.

Executive Director LoBasco also underscored in the report that the air marshals on Maxine Water's trip were assigned to high-risk missions, adding that the marshals were removed from those and were assigned to accompany Waters. However, the U.S. Secret Service and the U.S. Capitol Police denied Lobasco's claims, arguing that neither the agency provided in-flight protection for the congresswoman.
