The horrifying incident happened at around 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, in Willow Spring, North Carolina, which is around 15 miles south of Raleigh.
According to ABC News, Johnston County Sheriff's Office Capt. Danny Johnson told WTVD at the scene of the incident that the child's father left the baby to move a sprinkler in the yard and a neighbor pulled up to talk to him for a while.
Moreover, Johnson stated that the father left the 10-month-old child inside the residence with no one attending only for a couple of minutes. He then heard a commotion in the house. When he went back inside, the father found the baby unresponsive after being mauled by the two rottweilers.
In addition, authorities say that the father then quickly called for help to save his child from the vicious attack. But when the deputies arrived at the scene and started to perform CPR on the baby, they were not successful in reviving the child.

The Johnston County Sheriff also mentioned that the emergency medical services arrived afterward and attempted other attempts of CPR procedures on the child but they did not get a response. The baby was pronounced deceased at their own house, which is also the scene of the attack, WTVD reported.
Meanwhile, it was not confirmed, whether the family has any issues with the dogs before the attack happened. The two dogs were also immediately seized by animal control but it has not yet been determined what will happen to them.
Johnson stated that it is a bad scene.
"Anytime that a young child like that passes -- or any child -- it is very hard on us all because we all have children. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family," he said.
Furthermore, JCSO Criminal Investigations Capt. Jeff Caldwell identified the child as Malia Scott Winberry. He called the incident a "tragic accident in her statement," WECT reported.
Also, Caldwell sent his prayers to Scott Winberry and Bianca Patel for the tragic loss of their 10-month-old daughter. Caldwell also said that the dogs, which were two Rottweilers, were taken by animal control officials after the incident.
Chad Massengill, director of the Johnston County Animal Control confirmed on Wednesday that the dogs have been considered as dangerous by the county, People reported.
On the other hand, also this month, a family in Texas mourned after the loss of a 4-year-old girl, who was mauled by a dog which also resulted on her death. The girl, identified as Elayah Brown, was attacked by their family dog based on the police report.
