Trump Organization Gets Examined by NY Prosecutors Over Cash Bonuses

Trump Organization is under investigation by New York prosecutors. The main focus is to investigate the cash bonuses whether they failed to pay taxes on benefits for its employees.

Prosecutors on the Hunt

New York prosecutors are focusing their investigations against allegations said by sources regarding cash bonuses that were told to be unfulfilled. Cash payments are only a part of what the prosecutors are looking at, among other serious allegations. The executives of the company allegedly failed to pay the necessary taxes for benefits.

This includes cars, rent-free apartments, school tuition, and the like, as reported by the sources. It still is unclear who has received the bonuses since they were likely paid by wire transfer or check how much the total would be.

Spearheading the investigation is a joint operation of the New York attorney general's office and the Manhattan district attorney's office against the Trump Organization and its employees for alleged tax-related frauds. The charges would be coming as early as this week, as reported by CNN.

Trump and His Defense

Trump's lawyers and the Trump Organization recently met with the prosecutors last Thursday, June 24, and on Monday, June 29, for a final stand to dissuade prosecutors from pursuing the charges against the company even further.

Among the persecuted is Allen Weisselberg, Trump Organization's Chief Financial Officer, for possible connections with the said benefits, for a rent-free apartment, company car, and school tuition for his grandchildren. Since then, investigators have focused their attention on Weisselberg to create some sense of cooperation from him.

However, his lawyers told the prosecutors that he will not be cooperating. Also, both the Trump Organization and Weisselberg have refused to comment and Trump's claim, implying that the investigation is politically motivated.

Trump Not Getting Convicted, His Lawyer Says

One of Trump's lawyers told CNN that it's unlikely for the former US President and his family to face criminal charges solely based on the meeting with the said prosecutors last week. The lawyer also said that the charges regarding the benefits are "unprecedented" and said that if ever they will be charged, it's a no-brainer "not guilty" answer. They will move to file to dismiss the case immediately.

NY prosecutors are also investigating matters such as the organization misleading insurers, lenders, and the like regarding the value of its properties and tax deductions. Not to mention giving hush money about an alleged affair with Trump, which he vehemently denies.

Jeremy Saland, criminal defense attorney, said that proving tax evasion is tricky since there are most likely very few records regarding it. However, it would help the case by demonstrating a "pattern of behavior" made to stay clear of the law, even more so if it involves a large sum of cash.
