A 10-year-old Houston girl survived a family massacre when she played dead after a gunman lined them up and fatally shot them.

The Houston girl's family said the kid saw her parents and her six-year-old sister shot and killed. They said the girl waited until the gunman left before she contacted her grandmother, The Blaze reported.

The Houston girl called her grandmother through the FaceTime video app and told her that someone came in and shot her and her mom, dad, and sister, adding that her loved ones were all dead.

Assistant Police Chief Patricia Cantu said the grandmother called 911 after learning about the shooting from the girl. She noted that the shooting had occurred in the living room of the apartment in Houston, Texas.

Cantu said the Houston girl was in the house for about 15 minutes with the bodies until they got in the place. She said the girl was shot in the arm and now in the hospital.

Cantu noted that this was "a very tragic and just a horrible scene," The Kansas City Star reported. The assistant police chief said it was possible that the family knew the shooter since the home had no signs of forced entry.

Detectives had in custody the surveillance video that could help in the investigation, according to the police. No one had been arrested yet. But detectives said they believe that they already knew the identity of the gunman.

The Family Massacre in Texas

A relative said that the girl told them that a masked man knocked on their door and grabbed her one-year-old baby brother out of the arms of her father.

The shooter then tossed him onto the couch and started shooting them. She said she pretended that she had been killed. The Houston girl noted that she locked the door, grabbed her surviving brother, and called her grandmother.

Police said they are looking for a suspect they described only as a black man in his 20s. The officials working on the case said they believed that the man knew the victims as there was also no evidence that it was a robbery.

The slain couple has four kids: the 10-year-old girl, the killed six-year-old girl, and the one-year-old boy, who was uninjured. There was also an eight-year-old boy, who was with his uncle at the time of the shooting, ABC 13 News reported. Relatives also said that the mother was pregnant.

Crime Stoppers is now offering a $5,000 reward. The family had no knowledge of who could have done the crime, adding that the couple just moved to the apartment from Spring a couple of months ago.

The mother's cousin said that whoever did the crime meant to do this, adding that he did not want to leave any witnesses. The relative also said that he did not shoot the one-year-old boy because he cannot talk.

Cantu said they are sending out prayers and hope that anybody has any information about the crime, Crime Online reported.
