A Florida man has tried to walk from Florida to New York inside his hamster-wheel-like device, which he called a bubble. He was washed up on the Floridian coast.

Reza Baluchi said that he was traveling 1,000 miles north from Florida's east coast for charity. However, he ended up 30 miles south of his starting point in St. Augustine, according to a BBC News report.

Flagler County Sheriff's Office said that Baluchi was safe with no injuries. The office added that the U.S. Coast Guard had helped him to ensure that the vessel and occupant are compliant with Coast Guard.

The Florida man said that he was doing the journey to raise money for those in public service, including Coast Guard.

Baluchi said that he wants to raise money for homeless people too, aside from those in public service, according to The Guardian report.

The Florida man noted that he wants to show people that they can do anything they want to do, adding advice not to listen to anyone and chase their dreams.

Baluchi's Travels

Baluchi had encountered a problem during his journey when he found out that his safety and navigation equipment had been missing.

He said that they are essential for his maritime journeys. His belongings were eventually recovered.

The Sheriff's Office said that the rough weather in the area is complicating efforts, according to a Sun-Sentinel report.

The Guardian reported that he was preparing for the same journey in April 2016. He had planned to set off near Miami and travel north along the coast before heading east towards the Bermuda Triangle.

He had also planned to stop in Puerto Rico, Haiti, Cuba, and Key West.

Baluchi was planning to survive on protein bars, tuna, seawater purified through a filter, Gatorade, and chewing gum for seasickness.

In 2014, he was also rescued by the Coast Guard when he tried to reach Bermuda from Florida in a hydro pod.

He also has a GPS tracking device with him so his friends and family can follow his travels through his website.

Baluchi was a refugee from Iran and was imprisoned and tortured for running against the Iranian regime. He then traveled to Germany when he was in his 20s and he was eventually given political asylum in the United States.

Baluchi has made headlines several times before his attempt to travel across the sea. He was reported for his efforts to break long-distance running and cycling records, which included one six-month journey.

He also had a seven-year bike trip and he said that it brought him across 55 countries on six continents.

Baluchi said that his mission is to promote world peace and unity, according to a USA Today report.

One of his earlier journey attempts, Baluchi had reportedly pulled out a knife and held it to his chest. He said that he would kill himself if authorities did not let him continue his journey, according to a Bernews report.

Jacksonville authorities had claimed that he posed a danger to himself and took him to Jacksonville Health Resource Center.

Baluchi was released shortly after he was admitted.
