Eugenio Derbez's 'No Se Aceptan Devoluciones' Film to Get American Remake
Eugenio Derbez has enjoyed success from his 2013 hit movie "No Se Aceptan Devoluciones."
The movie, which has been translated to "Instructions Not Included," tells the story of Acapulco's resident playboy Valentin. One day his carefree life changes, when an ex-lover brings an infant with her that she claims is his. She tells him she is just going to pay for a taxi but never comes back.
After he changes his life completely and moves to the United States, the mother comes back into their lives and demands to take her daughter back.
The heart-touching story is one many Latinos can relate to since it shows how foreigners assimilate. Valentin often has to rely on his very young daughter to translate for him, and she is easily able to be part of two cultures.
Derbez, who produced, acted and co-wrote the film, has now shared that he is working on versions for the American and French markets, according to Informador.
"I'm preparing something because they asked me for a remake for the United States and France," he said.
He is now living in the United States, where he has been offered several projects, though he is now focused on a new movie. He wouldn't offer any more details about his upcoming projects because they are not fully developed. He will take part in 2014's "Book of Life."
On top of all his success, he is waiting for the birth of his daughter.
"I will be present during labor," he said. "I'll have a camera but also a cushion at the ready in case I faint. And the truth is I don't know if I'll share her birth on social media."
He said his wife Alessandra Rosaldo is doing well but is nervous.
