Gen Con 2014 Tickets, Hotel, and Shuttle: Convention Breaks Attendance Record by Drawing Thousands of Gamers, Artists, and Authors
Gen Con 2014 is coming on Aug. 14-17, 2014!
Easily one of the biggest and oldest gaming conventions in the world, Gen Con will attract gamers, fantasy fans, science fiction aficionados, and game makers alike from around the world to come to Indianapolis, Indiana.
The event will be supported by a multitude of game companies, costumed participants, and outstanding artists and authors. It will feature a Family Fun Pavilion, over 10,000 game- and fiction-related events, and the launching of many new and exciting games.
Gen Con had over 49,000 attendees last year, more than in any of its previous 45 incarnations and it is expected to easily break the record again this year.
Attendance requires a badge. Most events also require tickets, although the convention sells generic tickets which can be used for any event if space remains after those with tickets to the specific event have all arrived. Ticket prices typically go higher if extra supplies or prizes are provided by the event sponsor but that usually only adds a few dollars per event.
Generic tickets are sold in $2 units which can be combined to pay for admission to more expensive events. Early registration, which can be done online or by phone, ends on June 29. Registration is available all the way up until Gen Con begins but badges and tickets cannot be mailed or refunded except on-site after preregistration ends. Online ticket purchases have no limit while 50 tickets or $100 worth are allowed for on-site purchases of generic tickets per each transaction. For more information and to purchase tickets, see the website at www.gencon.com. For a list of hotels, visit https://www.gencon.com/attend/areahotels. The listed hotels are in the local area and will be serviced by the Gen Con Shuttle routes.
