Bob Saget's Family Sues Florida Officials to Block Release of Death Records After Fans Suspect of Foul Play
Bob Saget's family has sued some Florida officials to block the release of records related to the investigation into the comedian's death.
According to E! News, the "Full House" star's wife, Kelly Rizzo, and their children, Aubrey, Lara, and Jennifer Saget, filed a lawsuit against Orange County Sheriff John Mina and the District Nine Medical Examiner's Office in Florida on Tuesday.
Entertainment Tonight reported that Saget's family sought an injunction to prevent the release of the comedian's death records that may contain photos, videos, or even audio recordings in relation to his death.
Although facts of the investigation should be publicized, Saget's family attorney Brian Beiber told E! News that records relating to the comedian's death "should remain private out of respect for the dignity of Ms. Saget and his family."
According to the lawsuit, the plaintiffs will suffer from "irreparable harm in the form of extreme mental pain, anguish, and emotional distress" when the defendants release the records in response to public records requests" or disseminate it "for any other reason or purpose."
"It's very simple - from a human and legal standpoint - the Saget family's privacy rights outweigh any public interest in disclosure of this sensitive information," Beiber noted.
The complaint filed by Saget's family came after "certain news and media outlets have filed or plan to file public records requests" pertaining to the investigation into the comedian's death.
To counter this, Saget's family asked the court to grant a "declaratory relief" to make the records remain "confidential and exempt from disclosure under Florida law."

Experts Say Bob Saget's Head Injury Was Like a Hit From a Baseball Bat
Experts earlier compared the comedian's head injury from getting hit with a baseball bat. They also associated Saget's injuries with falling 20 to 30 feet.
The comparison was made after an autopsy released last week showed that Bob Saget had a fractured skull in multiple places and had bleeding across both sides of his brain, The Daily Mail reported.
"I think it reveals more than anything else is this was not a simple bump on the head... When you read this autopsy report that may still be the case, but it was a pretty significant blow to the head," neurosurgeon Dr. Sanjay Gupta told CNN.
Gupta noted that the injuries Saget sustained based on the autopsy "takes a lot of force," adding that the bleeding on top of the brain likely caused the pressure that led to his death.
Last week, Saget's family said the Orange County medical examiner's office in Florida revealed that the 65-year-old actor's cause of death was from "head trauma."
The family noted that authorities concluded that Saget "accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it and went to sleep." The family added that no drugs or alcohol were involved.
Bob Saget's Death
Bob Saget was found dead at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Orlando, Florida on January 9, not long after a two-hour stand-up performance at Ponte Vedra Concert Hall.
According to reports, a security officer in the Ritz-Carlton hotel entered Saget's room after he failed to check out. They immediately called 911 when the actor was found unresponsive.
The sheriff's department and the fire department responded to Saget's hotel room at around 4 p.m. E.T., but the actor was declared dead on the scene.
Orange County Chief Medical Examiner Joshua Stephany earlier said there was no evidence of foul play surrounding the actor's death. However, some of Saget's fans were reportedly not convinced with the report and the investigation in his case, according to Meaww.
A Twitter user said Monday: "If Bob Saget fell in the shower & sustained those level of injuries, is he really going to just dry himself off, put some clothes on, and just go to sleep? The other scenarios of foul play are more likely. Also possible the family knows and wants to keep it quiet - embarrassment."
Another tweeted, "I think anyone with two brain cells can surmise that Bob Saget was most likely the victim of foul play."
