Aaron Rodgers Admits ‘Remorse’ Over COVID-19 Vaccine Situation, Hints Possible Reason for Split Rumors With Shailene Woodley
Packers' Aaron Rodgers may have given insight into what may have produced the split rumors with ex-fiancee Shailene Woodley.
In Tuesday's episode of The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers revealed that he had "a lot of feelings of remorse" about previously admitting that he did not get the COVID-19 vaccine and how it affected not only Woodley but also his loved ones.
The quarterback was quoted as saying, "yeah, I've been immunized," back in August 2021, but later discovered that he is unvaccinated, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
Later in the program, he apologized for not realizing the type of shrapnel they would be exposed to.
"I am very sorry to those people - Shai, my loved ones, and my agents."
Rodgers continued that he never intended to get Woodley in the middle of it but that she was dragged by proxy because of their relationship.
Rodgers casually thanked his "fiancée" - without naming her - while accepting the Most Valuable Player award during the NFL Honors in February 2021.
Soon after, a source confirmed to People that the couple was indeed engaged.
Rodger Hints Possible Reason for Split Rumors With Shailene Woodley
Despite many insiders claiming they have broken up and the "Divergent" star being spotted without her engagement ring less than a week ago, Rodgers appeared to hint that he and Shailene are still together.
"When your home life is stable and you have an amazing partner to do life with, it just makes the work-life a bonus," the MVP said on the show.
Although the significant other of athletes are often looked at as "possible distractions," according to Rodgers, he credits the actress for much of his success in the NFL in recent years.
The Green Bay Packers quarterback added that he knows it has been great having the last two seasons with stability at home.
When asked whether Woodley has "shaped" and "changed" him ever since they have started dating, the football player responded, "Oh yeah, without a doubt."
Rodgers described Woodley as an "incredible woman," who taught him what unconditional love looks like.
Rodgers was referring to a Monday Instagram post in which he expressed gratitude, praised Woodley for always having his back, and even included a photo of the two being intimate.
The quarterback also said on McAfee's show that having a partner like Woodley, "life just changes."
Fans Noticed Something Before Rodgers & Woodley Broke Up
When Aaron won his fourth NFL MVP award for the most valuable player of the year, he made no mention of Shailene during his acceptance speech. Woodley also did not accompany him on the red carpet, prompting fans to wonder if they were still together.
In December, sources began speaking out and revealing why the couple ended their engagement.
The details came from two different insiders, one close to Shailene and the other close to Aaron.
One source close to Shailene told CNN that they grew apart since they have both busy careers, and a source close to Aaron told People that it was an "amicable" separation.
