At last official count, Sony's Playstation 4 had sold 7 million consoles compared to only 3 million by Microsoft's Xbox One worldwide.

According to Movoto's analysis of information on Facebook, though, Xbox One is winning the popularity contest in the U.S. The information showed that Xbox One is more popular on the East and West Coasts, and Playstation 4 is more popular in the middle of the U.S. The information was gathered by seeing how many Facebook fans of the console each state has. For example, in California Xbox One has 560,000 Facebook fans, and Playstation 4 has 520,000 fans.

While the poll doesn't prove what the raw sales numbers prove, it is interesting to see that most of the country "likes" Xbox One. Twenty-two states preferred Xbox One on Facebook, and 19 states preferred Playstation 4. The other nine states resulted in a tie, probably because of Facebook's rounding criteria.

But, which system is better in terms of features, gameplay, game titles and more? Let's examine it more closely.

Features and Specs

Right away, by just looking at the two consoles side by side, any gamer can see the enormous size of the Xbox One compared to the Playstation 4. An Xbox One is massive, sizing up at 13.5 in x 10.4 in x 3.2 in. The Playstation 4 is much slimmer, sizing up at 10.8 in x 12 in x 2 in.

An Xbox One also weighs about 7.84 pounds compared to the Playstation 4, weighing about 6.06 pounds.

The Playstation 4 uses the newer, faster 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi bands. The Xbox One uses the old 802.11a bands.

The hard drives are the same in both systems, but in the Playstation 4, the user can upgrade the hard drive. If an Xbox One user tries to replace their hard drive, the user voids the warranty.

Xbox One does have more options for plugging in other devices and cords. Playstation 4 lacks some of these extra ports.

The Xbox One has a 1.75 GHz processor, and the Playstation 4 only has a 1.6 GHz processor.

In graphics tests, the Playstation 4 performed better. The images are crisper and clearer on the Playstation 4 when compared side by side with the Xbox One playing the same games.

Price

Both systems start at $399. Each system comes with one controller, an HDMI cable and a wired headset for online play.

Games

Both game libraries remain small on the new systems. Most popular titles, like Call of Duty and Assassins Creed, are available on both consoles, but there are some exclusives.

Playstation 4 has Killzone: Shadow Fall as well as Knack, two games that received favorable ratings.

Xbox One boasts some excellent exclusive games though. Killer Instinct, Dead Rising 3 and Forza Motorsport 5 only made it to Xbox One.

Xbox One, in the early stages, has better games. That could change quickly though as more titles are released.

Conclusion

There's no clear-cut winner here. Playstation 4's graphics win in the gameplay test, and so does their Internet speed and experience. It's also nice that storage hogs will be able to upgrade their hard drives on the Playstation 4.

Xbox One has better games, at least for now.

Keep an eye on future game releases when you're trying to decide which system to buy.
