Jennifer Siebel Newsom is the wife of California Governor Gavin Newsom, who assumed office in 2019 and will end his term on January 2, 2023.

Since taking the governor's office, Newsom has managed to alter the criminal system in the state by halting executions statewide, which is a decision that got a call-out in the recall petition. He has also put new limits on police use of force and moved forward with two prison closures, according to a CalMatters report.

Newsom also managed to push the largest economic stimulus, which included $100 billion allotted for poverty-targeting initiatives. The Democratic governor also extended rent and utility debt relief, among other initiatives he launched.

They say a man's accomplishments are made possible by the support and work of their wife or female partner. So who is the woman behind the California governor's political achievements, and how is she helping her husband leads the state? Let's get to know Newsom's wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom.

Who is California Gavin Newsom's Wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom?

Jennifer Siebel Newsom has pursued acting and appeared in several high-profile projects such as the TV show "Mad Men" and the musical movie adaptation "Rent," according to The Sun.

The California first lady was born on June 19, 1974, in San Francisco, California, and graduated with honors from Stanford University, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Latin American Studies and a Minor in Human Biology before moving to filmmaking.

Newsom and Jennifer have been married since 2008. The couple reportedly met on a blind date set up by a mutual friend at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in October 2006.

The two have announced their engagement in January 2008, and they wed in July at Jennifer's parents' ranch in Stevensville, Montana.

Jennifer also made some documentaries. She is the director, writer, and producer of the docu-film "Miss Representation" first shown in the documentary competition at Sundance in 2011.

The docu-film tackles how the media has underrepresented women in positions of power. Jennifer also wrote, produced, and directed her second documentary film titled "The Mask You Live in."

The Newsom family has four children, with their oldest being born in 2009. The child was named Montana Tessa to commemorate her parents' wedding location. In 2011, Hunter came along. The family then welcomed Brooklynn Stacia in 2013 and Dutch William in 2016.

Due to her last name, many thought that Jennifer was related to Tom Siebel. However, Jennifer was not a relative of the tech entrepreneur and billionaire.

First Wife of California Governor Gavin Newsom

Gavin Newsom's marriage with Jennifer Siebel Newsom was not his first. The California governor was previously married to Kimberly Guilfoyle.

According to Los Angeles Magazine, the former couple was still married while Newsom was elected mayor of San Francisco, making her the city's first lady for a few years. The couple cited the stress of living on opposite coasts as the reason for their split.

In a statement, they said they had developed a bond of love and respect for each other over the past 10 years, and that will never change.

Their divorce was finalized in February 2006. In April 2018, Guilfoyle reportedly started dating former President Donald Trump's son, Don Jr.

Currently, Jennifer Siebel Newsom is busy working on initiatives to support children's mental and physical health and provide families with the tools to build a solid learning foundation through her California for ALL Kids campaign.

She's also making strides to build economic equity, equal representation, and advance a family-first agenda via her California for ALL Women campaign.
