Arizona Mall Shooting: Police Asks Businesses to Lock Down After Firing Leaves 1 Injured
An Arizona mall shooting in Phoenix caused injury to at least one person Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities tweeted that around 3 p.m. local time, a shooting had happened at the Tanger Outlets shopping center, according to a Fox News report. The police asked all businesses to lock down and for people to stay out of the area.
Meanwhile, three children were reported to be also shot while at the Tanger Outlets near Westgate Entertainment District in Glendale, according to an Arizona Family News report.
Both the outlet mall and the entertainment district are locked down while police investigate, adding that there are no suspects who are on the loose.
Those who have loved ones inside the mall were advised to head to the Red Lot at State Farm Stadium to wait for them.
One witness, who works at a kiosk, said that he heard five gunshots.
Another witness, Austin Farr, was in the food court when it happened. Farr said that they heard what sounded like possible gunshots, with a ton of people running around the corner.
He added that there were a couple of people screaming, "he shot somebody," or "he's shooting." Farr said that he and his girlfriend ran towards the parking lot.

Arizona Mall Shooting
It was unclear if a suspect had been detained, according to an Arizona Central News report.
Police updated that they had finished one round of searches and were going to do a second round of searches.
Sgt. Randy Stewart, public information officer for Glendale police, noted that about 4 p.m. the incident was not an active shooter situation and that it was "isolated."
Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey announced that the state is working closely with Glendale Police to monitor the situation, as well as support law enforcement.
Ducey offered his prayers to those affected by the incident, as well as for law enforcement authorities who are responding to the shooting.
Farr said that he saw somebody wearing all black near the freeway, noting that the person had a backpack that he had dropped on the floor next to the concrete barrier.
The witness added that the man had started climbing the concrete barrier and ran down the drainage ditch, with cops starting to chase him.
Police did not release any details about the shooter or shooters. In addition, they did not also detail the ages of the victims, just noting that they are under 18.
Arizona Shooting Incident
In May 2020, a gunman also opened fire, leaving one person in critical condition with two others with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to The New York Times report.
Police said at the time that they had the suspect in custody, identifying him as Armando Hernandez Jr.
Hernandez was facing felony charges, which include aggravated assault, criminal damage, and discharging a weapon within city limits, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
The shooting also occurred at the Westgate Entertainment District, with the outdoor shopping center had been closed under a stay-at-home order in Arizona.
