HTC Nexus 9 Tablet Release Rumors: New Specs and Price Info Leaked
HTC is said to be releasing a new Nexus 9 tablet, the HTC Volantis. It will be an 8.9-inch tablet with a starting price of $399.
Android Police confirms the rumor.
"We feel confident in our information," the site states.
The tablet is expected to go on sale near the end of 2014 alongside the latest Android tablet (the L or the Android 5.0).
Android Police reports that the HTC tablet will have an 8.9-inch screen with a 2048x1440 display, with 281 pixels per inch, better than the Retina iPad's 261 pixels per inch.
The tablet will likely run at 2.5 GHz with a 64-bit Nvidia Logan processor (Tegra K1), 2 gigabytes of RAM and a 16- or 32-GB hard drive.
It will weigh 15 ounces, more than the Nexus 7's 10.2 ounces, probably because it will be made of aluminum, not plastic.
The cameras are rumored to be weak -- an 8-megapixel rear camera and only a 3-megapixel front-facing camera.
The 16-GB model will likely be $399, the 32-GB $499. LTE capabilities are expected to cost at least $100 more.
A source familiar with Volantis' plans said the hardware already exists, so these rumors are likely true.
At 8.9 inches, the tablet is bigger than the Apple iPad Mini, which starts at $299.
Android Police said the Volantis could look like this:
