NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Rob Gronkowski Opens up About Tom Brady's Unretirement and His Possible Return Next Season
NFL superstar Rob Gronkowski was not shocked about Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady's unretirement.
On Thursday, Gronkowski told Entertainment Tonight that Brady loves football like no other and that he lives and dies for it.
Gronkowski noted that he thought Brady would be out of the game for a year. He said he knew the quarterback would eventually be back in the field but did not think the unretirement would come quick.
"When I was you know at the NFL Honors [in February], they were all asking me, 'How long? Do you think Tom's coming back?' Well, I didn't think it was gonna be that quick," Gronkowski noted as he addressed the retirement reversal of his friend and longtime teammate.
Gronkowski also lauded Brady, saying that the Buccaneers quarterback was an amazing player and that he can still throw the ball "like no other."
Earlier in March, Tom Brady announced the end of his retirement, saying that his place was not yet on the sidelines of the football field.
Brady also said he would be with Tampa Bay Buccaneers for his 23rd season, citing unfinished business.
Tom Brady's Unretirement May Be a Factor to NFL Star Rob Gronkowski's Return to Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Rob Gronkowski said last week that he was not closing his doors to Tampa Bay Buccaneers but was still undecided as to whether he would like to play this year. He is currently a free agent, NBC Sports reported.
According to the outlet, the NFL superstar said there was a very good chance that he would return to Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Hill's agent Drew Rosenhaus confirmed that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offered Gronkowski the opportunity to return to the club. However, Rosenhaus noted that Gronkowski was still undecided about his decision.
"He needs some time to figure out whether he wants to play," Rosenhaus said.
The agent further noted that Tom Brady's decision to come out of his retirement would influence Rob Gronkowski's return next NFL season.
Drew Rosenhaus said he spoke with Tampa Bay Bucs yesterday about his client TE Rob Gronkowski. He said he told them Gronk is “truly undecided” about playing in 2022. Gronk has hinted this offseason about likely returning to TB but wants to take his time. Bucs want him back.

Rob Gronkowski on Returning to NFL
During the interview with Entertainment Tonight on Thursday, Rob Gronkowski also opened up about his NFL return. He said he still loves playing football, but it was a lot for him at the moment.
"It's a big grind. So I'm just putting it in the backseat right now, you know? It'll always be there if I stay in shape," he noted.
Gronkowski also said that he was not worried about his future in NFL, joking that what makes him more worried was the upcoming "Kids Choice Awards," where he and Miranda Cosgrove will take part as hosts.
Rob Gronkowski briefly retired after NFL's 2018 season. Just like Tom Brady, the athlete went back to play again in 2020, where he joined the Bucs alongside the superstar quarterback.
Last year, the tight end played at least 12 games in the regular season, where he was able to catch 55 passes for 802 yards with six touchdowns.
