The king of Mexican ranchera, Vicente Fernandez, continues to win awards even after his death as he won a posthumous award at the Grammy Awards 2022 on Sunday.

Fernandez bagged a Grammy in the category of Best Regional Mexican Music Album (Including Tejano) for his latest work, "A Mis 80's," according to BBC.

Fernandez went head-to-head with other artists, including Christian Nodal for his album "Ayayay! Super Deluxe" and Natalia La Fourcade's "A Song for Mexico, Vol. II." Artists like Mon Laferte and Aida Cuevas were also nominated for this category, Marca reported.

The "A Mis 80's" album was released in 2020 and included the songs "Se Me Olvidó Otra Vez," "Cielo Rojo," and "When You Tell Me."

Vicente Fernandez Other Grammys Win

Vicente Fernandez's recent win for an accolade in Grammys 2022 marked his fourth Grammy win since 2010 when he won the same award with his album "Necesito de ti."

According to Marca, Fernandez won a Grammy twice for the category Best Regional Mexican Album (Including Texan) in 2015 and 2017.

Fernandez's Grammys 2022 win came after the king of Ranchera music was given a tribute during the Premio Lo Nuestro 2022 in February. Artists such as Camilo, Christian Nodal, and Aguilar performed that night and paid homage to the Mexican ranchera icon.

Fernandez made 14 nominations for Grammys throughout his career, including the awards this year. In Latin Grammys, he was able to win 14 nominations with nine statuettes.

Vicente Fernandez died on December 12, 2021. The 81-year-old legendary Mexican singer spent more than four months in a hospital due to health complications after suffering a severe fall at his ranch, Los Tres Potrillos.

Fernadez's family organized a funeral at the Arena FVG, and the public was given a moment to say goodbye to the Mexican icon in person.

Fans of the king of ranchera music were also given a chance to witness his last goodbye, as his funeral was broadcasted on television.
