Authorities in Mexico intercepted a boat with four crew members who were on their way to transport 35 packages of cocaine in an area dominated by the Jalisco cartel.

According to La Opinion, federal authorities seized the shipment with 3,700 pounds of cocaine near the port of Manzanillo in Colima.

The recent operation was carried out 270 nautical miles, about 500 kilometers, southeast of the coast of Manzanillo, where agents of the Secretary of the Navy (Semar) detected a small boat that had four crew members on board.

Realizing the presence of a helicopter and naval vessel, the alleged criminals tried to flee and threw "objects" into the sea. According to Borderland Beat, federal agents recovered the "objects" thrown into the sea and secured the different packages inside the boat that the suspects were transporting to the port of Manzanillo.

It resulted in the seizure of 35 packages containing 1,400 small packages that weighed 1,700 kilograms of alleged cocaine.

Semar reported that four people had been arrested in this operation that was carried out "under the trinomial operational concept (ship-helicopter-interceptor)," and the use of "state-of-the-art technologies."

The operation reportedly prevented the alleged drug from "reaching the illicit market." According to reports, the port of Manzanillo in Colima is a territory dominated by the Jalisco cartel. So this seizure is a direct blow to its leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known by his alias, "El Mencho."

Jalisco Cartel Receives Threatening Message From Sinaloa Cartel in Mexico's Colima State

Last week, a human head and a cardboard with a threatening message from the Sinaloa Cartel for its rival gang, the Jalisco cartel, were found in Colima state.

According to reports, police received a call about a human head along Lopez Mateos street in Manzanillo, a few meters from the neighborhood garden. When the police arrived, they also saw the cardboard that contained the threatening message.

As translated by Borderland Beat, the narco message reads: "This will be the fate of all the turncoats. Just as well for all of the Jalisco gunmen. We already have everyone located. Everyone will end up like this individual. Sincerely, La Barredora of the Cartel de Sinaloa."

Authorities immediately cordoned off the area for the corresponding investigation by the Prosecutor's Office. No other details were provided.

Jalisco Cartel and Sinaloa Cartel

The Jalisco cartel or the Jalisco Cartel New Generation is currently the Sinaloa Cartel's main rival. The Jalisco cartel is being led by "El Mencho."

On the other hand, Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada and Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Loera's four sons, known as "Los Chapitos," were reportedly left in command of the Sinaloa Cartel after El Chapo was arrested and extradited to the U.S.

The Jalisco cartel came out from the Sinaloa Cartel in 2010 after Mexican security forces killed former Sinaloa Cartel capo Ignacio Coronel, known as "Nacho."

Nacho's death resulted in the split into two factions - "La Resistencia" and "Torcidos" - of the Sinaloa Cartel. The "Torcidos" became what is now the Jalisco cartel, which has since expanded rapidly in Mexico.

The Jalisco cartel involves itself in many criminal activities, including international drug trafficking.
