Karol G, one of the hippiest and coolest Latino musicians, was the big winner at the recent Latin American Music Awards 2022, winning six awards, including Artist of the Year.

Latin AMAs 2022 is a big deal for every Latino musician. Karol G dominated the awards night Thursday, even though she was not able to attend the prestigious event, according to USA Today.

Apart from Artist of the Year, the Colombian pop star also won the Album of the Year and Favorite Album - Urban for her record "KG0516." She also took home the Favorite Artist - Female award and Favorite Artist - Urban award.

Karol G and Mariah Angeliq also bagged the Collaboration of the Year award for the song "El Makinon."

Carolina Giraldo Navarro, a.k.a Karol G, was born on February 14, 1991, in Medellin, Colombia, according to The Famous People. She has one sibling named Jessica.

Karol G attended high school at a Calasanz school, and she later went to the University of Antioquia to learn music before she moved to New York to start her music career.

Karol G Joined a Colombian Singing Contest

Like other famous singers, Karol G's fame and stage presence is a product of her hard work. Her career catapulted into the limelight when she joined the Colombian version of the "X-Factor," called "El Factor X," in 2010.

However, the Colombian singing contest is not her first time appearing on the music scene. Karol G earned her stage name and began her music career in 2006. Shen then signed into a label in 2014 with Universal Music Latino, TvOverMind reported.

She further noted that she wanted her place to stay to be near the sea and that she wanted that there was someone in charge of her food and someone who would keep things organized for her.

Karol G Has a Lot of Collaborations

Karol G's catalog also boasts songs on which she worked with other artists. According to The Famous People, the singer collaborated with several artists, like Reykon, Nicky Jam, Andy Rivera, and De La Ghetto.

She also worked with Nicki Minaj on the song "Tusa" and called her work with the rapper "iconic." "Tusa" became the first collaboration between women to debut a number one on the Billboard Hot Latin chart, per TvOverMind.

Karol G is Engaged

Karol G will soon be the wife of Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA. The pair first met in August 2018 on the music video set for their song "Culpables." They confirmed their relationship in January 2019 and announced their engagement in April of the same year.
