John Rham Takes Mexico Open Title

Tony Finau and Brandon Wu climbed the leaderboard on Sunday to give John Rahm quite the scare in the end. Fortunately, his 2-under 64 finish was enough to give him the edge in the end.

Rahm hasn't won in nearly a year in the PGA Tour, and his brilliant showing in the Mexico Open came at the right time as he gears up for the PGA Championship this May.

The 27-year-old also admitted that his play in the tournament was quite erratic. However, he was able to hold on thanks to his mentality.

"I stayed positive. I let my frustrations out a few times out there, but I always stay positive and I always stay hopeful," Rahm said, via Yahoo Sports. "I think it showed on a few of my swings ... I was confident in what I was doing, and I have faith in every part of my game and it shows."

In total, Rahm earned $1,314,000 out of the $7.3 million Mexico Open purse. As Golf Channel noted, he has now surpassed the likes of Kenny Perry, Charley Hoffman, Ryan Moore and K.J.
