Kamala Harris Net Worth 2022: The Earnings of the Vice President
With her experience in politics, how rich do you think the vice president is? According to Finty and Celebrity Net Worth, Kamala Harris currently has a net worth of $5 million.
Reports claimed that the bulk of Harris' wealth came from her husband, Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff. He previously worked as a partner at DLA Piper law firm, which has offices in California and Washington D.C. and focuses on entertainment and intellectual property law.
Emhoff left his job as a partner with the high-profile law firm in January 2020 to focus on his role as the vice-presidential spouse.
In 2015, Harris disclosed that she has a net worth of $3.31 million at a Congressional finance disclosure. A financial disclosure released by Harris in 2019 revealed that her family controls assets worth $2.5 million to $6 million and roughly $3 million worth of liabilities, mostly in the form of mortgages.
Also in 2019, Harris released tax returns while on the campaign trail. The report showed that the bulk of Kamala and Doug's wealth came from their activities in 2018, netting both of their net worth to $1.9 million in earnings. At least $1.4 million of that amount came from Emhoff's earnings.
During that period, the couple reportedly paid over $690,000 in taxes and donated $27,000 to charities. Another contributor to Harris' net worth was the earnings from her book "The Truths We Hold." The said book earned approximately $320,000.
Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff also have liquid assets tied up in retirement accounts and mutual funds. Harris reportedly earns an annual salary of $235,100 from her role as the vice president.
Kamala Harris' Real Estates
With her net worth amounting to $5 million, it is not surprising that Kamala Harris owns several homes across the U.S. According to reports, Harris and Emhoff own a handful of homes with a combined estimated value of around $8-10 million.
In 2004, Harris reportedly paid around $490,000 for an apartment in San Francisco. When she began working as California District Attorney, Harris sold the said property for about $860,000.
In 2017, Harris and Emhoff paid over $1.7 million for a condo in Washington D.C. when Kamala was elected to the Senate. They sold the said property in September last year at around $1.85 million.
