Two human heads were discovered this week in Mexico's Chihuahua state plagued by Mexican drug cartels.

According to Borderland Beat, authorities found a beheaded body on Eucalipto and Huancune streets in the Arboledas neighborhood in Chihuahua on Tuesday, and the head was discovered in a nearby ice chest, along with a message.

Authorities said the body was wrapped in black plastic bags and brown tape. So far, no information about the victim's identity has been released. However, the note inside the cooler contained the word "thief."

On Monday, a human head, also placed inside a cooler, was found along Reforma Urbana street in the Revolución neighborhood.

The ice chest was among the garbage that a group of workers removed on a property. The property was being cleaned when the human head was found. According to reports, the head was from a man with a dark complexion and short hair.

Rising Cases of Dismembered Bodies in Mexico's Chihuahua State

The dismembered bodies revealed an alarming rise in murders in Mexico's Chihuahua state. The El Heraldo de Chihuahua reported that more dismembered bodies had been found in the past days.

A man located dismembered remains of one or more people in two separate garbage bags in the South Industrial Complex in the city of Chihuahua over the weekend.

According to authorities, the man was walking by the intersection of Oriente and Aerospace streets when he noticed two suitcases, one blue and the other brown. Curious, the man examined their contents only to find the black plastic bags filled with cut-up human remains. The man immediately reported this to authorities.

There were also reports of the discovery of human heads inside plastic buckets in the municipal market's vicinity of the city and the second in a park at the Paseos de Chihuahua subdivision.

Chihuahua State in Mexico Has Been the Battleground for Two Mexican Drug Cartels

Two rival Mexican drug cartels are reportedly vying for control in Mexico's Chihuahua state. According to reports, the state has been in a territorial dispute between the Sinaloa Cartel and La Linea Cartel for the last five years.

La Linea Cartel is a former group of the Juarez Cartel and is fighting the Sinaloa Cartel for smuggling routes in the U.S. One of the bloodiest encounters between these two Mexican drug cartels happened last April at a secret horse racing track in the El Sauz community in the city of Chihuahua.

At least 11 people died in the shootout, while 10 more men and women were left injured. According to a local newspaper, the two rival Mexican drug cartels "ran into each other" at the horse racing event. A witness said the shooting erupted in the middle of the competition.

La Linea Cartel is believed to be led by Jesus Salas Aguayo, alias "El Chuyin." On the other hand, Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada and Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman's four sons, known as "Los Chapitos," were reportedly left in command of the Sinaloa Cartel after El Chapo was arrested and extradited to the U.S.

The Sinaloa Cartel is considered one of the world's most powerful drug-trafficking syndicates. The Mexican drug cartel has been known for carrying out assassinations, murders, and torture to protect its turf.
