Carlos Santana's Wife Shares Latest Health Update on the Mexican-American Guitarist After Fainting in Michigan Concert
Carlos Santana's wife, Cindy Blackman, shared a health update about her husband, who collapsed on stage on Tuesday night during a concert in Michigan.
Santana's wife took to Instagram on Wednesday to update the guitarist's fans about his health. In an Instagram post that was also shared on Santana's social media, Blackman said her husband is doing better, Fox News reported.
"Hi Everyone! Carlos & I thank you so much for your prayers, love, care & concern for him! Please know that he's resting and doing very well," Blackman wrote.
Santana's wife also explained that the Mexican-American guitarist was diagnosed with heat exhaustion and dehydration, adding that the temperature on the stage where Carlos performed was 100 degrees, and it was 114 degrees under the stage lights.
"That coupled with not enough water is what caused the issue. He'll be as good as new soon! Thank you again and we love you," Blackman ended her post with seven purple emoji hearts.
Carlos Santana Faints on Stage in Michigan Concert
A day before Cindy Blackman posted a message to her Instagram account, Carlos Santana also took to Facebook to update his fans about his condition.
The iconic rocker noted that he and his wife "are good" and "taking it easy" after his recent health scare. Santana reportedly collapsed on stage while performing his hit song "Joy," on Tuesday night.
A fan managed to record a video showing Santana's staff swarming around the legendary guitarist, with one rushing to his side to give him water.
Santana regained consciousness after a couple of minutes, and another video showed the musician waving his hands while he was escorted off stage.
Billboard reporter Garry Graff tweeted that Carlos Santana was taken to a hospital after medical personnel carried him off the stage 20 minutes after he fainted.
Carlos Santana's Other Health Issue
The incident caused a postponement of Carlos Santana's current North American tour. His next stop was supposed to be at The Pavilion at Star Lake in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania on July 6. A new date for the said show is yet to be confirmed.
In December last year, Santana also canceled several Las Vegas shows following his successful heart procedure. Santana earlier posted a video where he revealed that he told his wife to take him to the hospital due to an issue with his chest.
"When we went there [hospital], you know, we found out that I need to take care of it... I'm going to be taking time off for a little bit to make sure that I replenish and rest," the 74-year-old guitarist noted.
