The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has reportedly proposed disciplinary actions against the Texas Border Patrol agents on horseback accused of "whipping" Haitian migrants last year.

On Thursday, a source told Fox News that the CBP has already sent out disciplinary proposals for the border agents. However, the source noted that the details of the punishments have yet to be released.

The insider said the CBP is expected to announce the results of the administrative investigation soon.

DHS Seeks Punishment Among Texas Border Patrol Agents Accused of 'Whipping' Haitians

A few weeks ago, a federal source told the outlet that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) would seek to discipline the Texas Border Patrol agents, who will have a chance to defend themselves.

The source noted that the charges would be "administrative violations" and not criminal, which the border agents were cleared of earlier this year.

Last September, horse-mounted Border Patrol agents were photographed chasing Haitian migrants along the Rio Grande in Texas. The agents were trying to stop the migrants from entering the country.

In one case, an agent on horseback grabbed onto a migrant's shirt. The photo sparked different opinions and speculations from U.S. officials.

Many Democrats and media outlets falsely described the border agents' long reins, which they use to control their horses, as "whips."

Some administration officials quickly condemned the agents even before an investigation had been undertaken. But witnesses and other officials defended the agents in question, with some saying that the whipping did not occur.

The photographer of the said images, Paul Ratje, earlier said he never saw the agents whipping anyone, although he saw some agents swinging the long reins of their horses. The DHS declined to press criminal charges last November.

The CBP's Office of Professional Responsibility (ORP) has spent the intervening months reviewing photographs and interviewing agents and witnesses. The OPR noted that the agents whose behavior is in question would be awarded "due process" and given a chance to respond.

CBP to Announce the Results of Probe Over Texas Border Patrol Agents Accused of 'Whipping' Haitian Migrants

The source told Fox News on Thursday that an announcement from the CBP is "imminent" regarding the findings of the investigation. However, the source did not mention a specific date on when it would be announced.

Three weeks ago, CBP Commissioner Chris Magnus also commented about the report on Border Patrol agents in Texas accused of "whipping" migrants.

"I will merely indicate that the report that you're speaking about, we anticipate to release within the next several weeks. We are following the administrative processes that protect the due process rights of the involved employees," Magnus said when he was asked about the ongoing investigation at a press conference.

Some Border Patrol agents have expressed outrage at reports that the DHS will punish multiple agents for the debunked "whipping" claims.

"I am through being surprised," one agent earlier told Fox News. Another described the DHS plan as a "f**k*** bulls***," adding that the border patrol agents in question did nothing wrong.

Some agents also told the outlet that they are either retiring early or know fellow agents who also plan to retire early due to how the job is now. They noted that many agents were also pushed into processing migrants rather than being out in the field.
