Two men from Colorado sustained injuries this week when a crocodile suddenly attacked at a resort in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

The crocodile attack incident in Mexico was confirmed by the Civil Defense of the western state of Jalisco on Wednesday to Associated Press.

Vice reported that the attack occurred at the Bocanegra Beach at Velas Vallarta Resort on July 18. Authorities emphasized that the two Colorado men were given first aid at the scene.

Reports claimed that the victims are now in a hospital in Mexico, covered in bandages. The medical healthcare facility where they were brought was not mentioned.

The incident unfolded when one of the Colorado men swam at the Bocanegra Beach at Vellas Vallarta during the night.

Initial reports claimed that the first victim was in his 40s, but the Civil Defense of Mexico confirmed that he was 24 years old.

When the first victim was attacked by the crocodile, the second victim, who is 30 years old, went into the waters and was also caught wrestling with the crocodile.

Witnesses and Jalisco state officials claimed that the 30-year-old victim from Colorado went into the waters to help the first victim, as well as other members of the visiting group from the reptile who attacked them.

Mexico's Civil Defense underscored that the first victim of the beast sustained injuries to his right arm, chest, abdomen, and legs. The second victim reportedly sustained injuries to his right arm and right groin area.

The victims' identities were not disclosed by the authorities, aside from the fact that they were from Colorado, U.S.

Other American Tourists Attacked by Crocodiles in Mexico

It was not the first time that tourists from the U.S. were mauled by a crocodile in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. In June last year, a California teenager, identified as Kianna Hummel, was also attacked by a 12-foot-long crocodile in Marriot Resort.

Hummel and her friend reportedly went for a night swimming during that time. However, the California teen shared that the crocodile suddenly appeared from the ocean while she was standing on the beach.

Hummel shared that the beast went for her right leg and pulled her underwater. The beast then reportedly went for her left leg and pulled her once again into the water.

A bystander, identified as Sarah Laney, tried saving the California teen by throwing many items at the crocodile but still would not let go of Hummel's leg. The California teenager was then saved by a resort employee who struck the reptile with a hunk of wood until it let go.

Crocodiles are known to loom around the water of Puerto Vallarta. According to reports, a 10-foot-long crocodile weighing 660 pounds was captured by the authorities near the site where the Colorado men were attacked. The said reptile was captured five days before the men were victimized.
