Joe Biden Claims He Has Cancer During Climate Change Speech; White House Corrects Statement
U.S. President Joe Biden has seemed to claim in a climate change speech in Somerset, Massachusetts that he has cancer.
Biden's new seemingly revelation about his health was laid out while discussing new executive orders to fight climate change, according to a Fox News report.
The president has mentioned his childhood home in Delaware, noting that he and many other people he grew up with now have cancer. He added that Delaware had the highest cancer rate in the nation for the longest time.
He cited toxic smog and greenhouse emissions in his speech and how those affected his hometown of Claymont, Delaware.
At first, the statement gave an unsure impression of whether he just made an update on his health or has made a gaffe.
White House Clarifies President Joe Biden's 'Cancer' Statement
Express News reported that White House spokesman Andrew Bates pointed to Biden's 2021 health exam, which noted his treatment for "several, localized non-melanoma skin cancers."
The health summary revealed his physician, Dr. Kevin O'Connor, performed an operation to remove the non-melanoma skin cancers before he took office.
Bates referred to a tweet from Washington Post columnist Glenn Kessler, noting Biden had skin cancers removed before he became president.
The report was published on November 19, stating that the president "did spend a good deal of time in the sun in his youth." The report added further details that read, "total body skin exam was performed for dermatologic surveillance."
It also said that dermatology consultation is reviewed and appreciated and that biopsies were not required.
Many were quick to take a jab against the president's remark, with Twitter users expressing their opinions on the clip.
U.S. House candidate, Ronny Jackson, said in a tweet that it is "very concerning" if the president has cancer.
However, he added that he "highly" doubts Biden knows what he is talking about.
Human Events senior editor Jack Posobiec asked in a tweet if the president has cancer.
Republican Congressional candidate for Florida, Lavern Spicer, shared a clip of Biden saying he has cancer.
U.S. President Joe Biden on Climate Change
Pres. Joe Biden announced new steps to fight climate change while promising more action to come.
Biden said in an Associated Press News report that climate change "is an emergency," while vowing to use his power as a president to execute actions through executive orders and regulatory power to address the issue.
Biden announced his commitment in Massachusetts at the former Brayton Point power plant, which is now shifting to offshore wind power manufacturing. He cited executive actions such as the $2.3 billion budget to help communities with the rising temperatures with the help of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Department of Health and Human Services, and other agencies.
Meanwhile, environmental groups were not so keen on the idea, saying that Biden is "fighting fire with the trickle from a garden hose," according to Jean Su, energy justice program director at the Center for Biological Diversity.
