Texas Woman Shot, Arrested After Shooting at Dallas Love Field Airport
A 37-year-old Texas woman was taken into custody by authorities on Monday after she opened fire inside Dallas Love Field Airport.
The woman was shot by a police officer that responded to the scene.
The New York Times reported that there were no injuries due to the incident. However, the shooting inside the Texas airport had sent travelers looking for cover and resulted in numerous delayed flights.
Chief Eddie Garcia of the Dallas Police Department said in a press conference that the woman was dropped off at the airport just before 11 a.m. She seemed to have changed her clothes in a restroom before going out and opening fire in Dallas Love Field Airport.
Garcia said that a Dallas police officer inside the airport shot the Texas woman and had hit her "in the lower extremities." The shooter was immediately arrested and taken to a hospital. However, her condition was not immediately clear on Monday afternoon.
The police chief noted that the officer fired several rounds at her after the woman had started shooting.

Garcia said that police do not know where the shooter was targeting but noted that the shots were fired at the ceiling and officers had recovered several rounds, according to a CBS News report.
Police named the shooter as Portia Odufuwa, 37.
A Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson said that Southwest planes en route had been held under a ground stop after reports of the shooting.
Flight operations were also suspended for a short period. Airport officials later said that the operations have already resumed.
Southwest Airlines noted that 69 of its flights were canceled due to the incident.
Transportation Security Administration noted that the airport rescreened all travelers through a security checkpoint after the incident. A TSA spokesperson noted that the rescreening will take time due to the number of passengers at the checkpoint.
Dallas Love Field Airport Shooter
One witness, Michael Loewinsohn, had just arrived at the airport and was walking toward baggage claim when the shooting started. He took a video of the incident, showing a number of people sitting on the ground between the building and the tarmac, according to a CNN News report.
In April 2021, Odufuwa was accused of falsely reporting a fire in Dallas County. A judge ruled last June that she was unable to consult with her lawyer and incompetent to stand trial.
Court records also showed that she was not a danger to others at the time. The judge then ordered the airport shooter to attend "psychosocial counseling" and live in housing arranged by a healthcare provider.
In May, Texas also encountered a shooting incident in a Uvalde elementary school, which claimed the lives of students and teachers alike.
Lanasha Darnell, an airport worker since 2020, said that they have drills on evacuation and where they are supposed to go to. She noted that it all goes out the window when you are in the middle of it.
Chief Max Geron of the Police Department in Rockwall, Texas, east of Dallas, said that he was evacuated from the airport after the shooting.
