Gas prices may be going down slightly worldwide, but it's still pretty high. In the United States, it has forced motorists to travel south of the border to fill their tanks with cheaper gasoline in Mexico.

According to the New York Post, the gas prices in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico can reach up to $3.11 per gallon. It is already cheaper than the gas a few miles up north in El Paso, Texas, where gas prices are as high at $4.03.

Situations Have Reversed For Gas Stations in Mexico

Bloomberg reported that a gas station attendant in Mexico was surprised as luxury vehicles from the United States started piling up at the gas station he was working for.

The gas attendant, Ivan Escogido, spoke to Bloomberg about his experience. He said people in Ciudad Juarez used to cross the border to El Paso just to get gas. Now, he noted that the situation had been reversed.

Gas prices are steadily improving in the United States in recent weeks. The prices hit an all-time high in mid-June at $5.016 per gallon. However, the national average has declined. It is at $4.355 per gallon as of Monday.

Unfortunately, this is still not as cheap as the gas in Mexico. During a recent meeting with President Joe Biden at the White House, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador cited the gas price disparity.

Lopez Obrador, who has poured money into the country's fossil fuel industry, told Biden that they had allowed American motorists who live close to the border to fill their tanks with cheaper gas in Mexico.
