Canelo Alvarez was criticized by his upcoming opponent Gennady Golovkin as the Kazakhstani boxer called the Mexican champion an "insecure" boxer.

In a recent interview with El Nuevo Herald, Golovkin said Alvarez was talking too much during his pre-fight conferences, tackling the moment when the Mexican boxer called him a "two-faced" person.

"Let's say what he said is true, that I say something off camera, but every time I say something it's on camera," Golovkin noted.

Golovkin, often known by his nickname "GGG," went on to say that it was Alvarez's problem if he could not see reality for himself, and that said a lot about him.

"His behavior at press conferences shows how insecure he is, how he still lives in illusions about the situation, the stories," Golovkin noted.

Last month, Alvarez labeled Golovkin as not being honest, claiming that the Kazakhstani fighter talks a lot about him and pretends to be a good person even though he was not.

Golovkin also discussed in the interview that Alvarez behaves differently from his first and second press conferences.

"For a fighter of this caliber, someone who wants to be great, it shows that he still needs to grow, he needs to learn a lot. He's a long way from being the best," the Kazakhstani boxer said.

Canelo Alvarez's Grudge With Gennady Golovkin

During a table interview at Manhattan in July, Canelo Alvarez opened up about why he disliked Gennady Golovkin and mentioned GGG's "disparaging" comments in the past.

Boxing Scene reported that the comment Alvarez mentioned was when GGG claimed that Canelo's team utilized a performance drug clenbuterol, a banned substance, ahead of his second match with Golovkin.

Alvarez noted that GGG's comment made him look like a cheater and dishonest person.

Promoter Tom Loeffler recently said that Alvarez should be pleased that the Kazakhstani boxer is fighting him in September, given the "controversial scores" given to the Mexican boxer during their first two fight.

"I was surprised at how angry Canelo was. Out of anyone, he should be happy that GGG fought him because of the decisions; he got a lot of love with the judges on those fights," Loeffler noted.

Gennady Golovkin vs. Canelo Alvarez

Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez are scheduled to fight in T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on September 17.

Alvarez noted that he would settle his beef with Golovkin in their upcoming bout, and his goal was to finish the fight before the 12 rounds.

Meanwhile, Golovkin said he had no idea who would win between him and the Mexican champion.

The Kazakhstani boxer noted that he will if he wins the bout, but he does not think "it will be something special, outstanding."

"It will be the same feeling of joy, excitement, achievement that you feel after every victory," Gennady Golovkin said.
