Kobe Bryant Crash Case: Ex-Los Angeles Fire Captain Claims Taking Photos of the Lakers Star Pushed Him to Retire
A former Los Angeles fire captain testified in Kobe Bryant Crash photo trial, claiming that taking snaps during the tragedy made him quit his job.
According to People, ex-L.A. Fire Captain Brian Jordan took the stand on Monday, saying that what he experienced "was horrifying" and put him off the job.
"The way that whole scene looked is going to haunt me forever," Jordan noted.
Jordan testified as he was accused of taking graphic, closely-cropped photos of body parts on the scene of the Kobe Bryant crash tragedy.
The former Los Angeles Fire captain left his post in 2021.
Jordan made his comments during the fourth day of Vanessa Bryant's lawsuit against Los Angeles County.
Los Angeles Ex-Fire Captain Claims He Was Instructed to Take Photos on Kobe Bryant Crash Site
On Monday, Jordan claimed in his testimony that he cannot recall responding to the site where Kobe Bryant's plane crashed, citing memory issues. However, Jordan underscored that he was instructed to take pictures by high-ranking officials.
"I followed many instructions that day but was told 'take pictures, take pictures, take pictures," Jordan underscored.
A chief from the fire department pushed back with what Jordan claimed, pointing out that Jordan was not instructed to take pictures at the scene.
When he was asked if many pictures he took were body parts, the former fire captain claimed that he saw intestines in his head.
Jordan also appeared distraught during the proceedings, with reports citing him that at one point, the former fire captain turned to the judge and said that "he does not want to hear this drama."
Jordan also asked to leave the courtroom several times as the probe about the photos he allegedly took, featured hard-hitting questions in connection to the specifics of the trial.
Other Testimonies From the Kobe Bryant Crash Photo Trial
Kobe Bryant's widow, Vanessa Bryant, is seeking legal action against L.A.'s sheriff and fire department after one of the deputies showed photos of her late husband's decapitated body.
Jordan was not the only official who took the stand on Kobe Bryant's Crash photo trial.
Los Angeles Sheriff's Department deputy, Raul Versales, claimed that he never made it to the crash site and underscored that he received 30 photos from Deputy Doug Johnson.
Dough Johnson previously said in the trial that he had no regrets in taking Kobe Bryant crash photos, contending that higher-ups from the LACFD ordered him to do so.
Another member of the fire department, Rafael Mejia, testified that he was sent 15 to 20 sensitive photographs, which he showed to a man named Joey Cruz at a bar.
Last week, bartender Victor Gutierrez also took the stand, describing the photos taken at the scene of the crash.
Kobe Bryant's crash photo trial is expected to last about two weeks.
