The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) has resumed its public forum to meet with concerned parents of the district for the upcoming school year that will start in two weeks.

In the coming days, the CISD shall also decide the status of embattled Uvalde School Police Chief Pete Arredondo, whose employment hangs in the air after parents called for his removal from the post.

Earlier this month, the CISD re-appointed former Robb Elementary Principal Mandy Guttierez into another post, weeks after being placed on administrative leave.

Uvalde CISD Continues Public Forum for New School Year

Last July, the CISD approved that the start of the school year for the entire Uvalde district be moved to September 6.

Now, the Consolidated Independent School District has met again to discuss other grievances of the parents after the continuing discussions on the district's proactive actions following the tragic Robb Elementary school shooting last May.

The meeting will be split into two - one with a public question and answer portion and one with a closed door.

The closed-door meeting shall focus on parent and public grievances against District Education Superintendent Hall Harell, based on the released agenda.

According to CNN, parent Adam Martinez said that he wanted "accountability" following the Texas probe report that revealed various problems on the part of the superintendent down to the police chief. Per Martinez, the accountability "starts with the superintendent and anyone below him," hence the piling complaints directed against him.

However, the Monday meeting might not be the most consequential meeting, as on Wednesday, the CISD will finally decide on the termination of Uvalde Police Chief Pete Arredondo after weeks of delay.

Uvalde Police Chief Pete Arredondo Termination to Be Decided on Wednesday CISD Meeting

According to KVUE Texas, the meeting to decide the termination of Uvalde Police Chief Pete Arredondo will take place on Wednesday, after being delayed twice already.

Per the outlet, the meeting will be heavily attended. These would include community members, family, and relatives of Robb Elementary school shooting victims, among others.

Family members of the victims have been calling for the removal of Arredondo all summer because of his alleged failed leadership in response to the Robb Elementary school shooting that claimed the lives of 21 people.

In July, Uvalde school district superintendent Hall Harrell initially told parents that the process of terminating Arredondo was "complicated" as he is considered a contract employee, the New York Times reported.

Pete Arredondo has been placed on unpaid administrative leave after calls for his removal have emerged. The probe report revealed that because of Arredondo's decision not to confront the shooter in the classroom led to the death of more victims. Had Arredondo decided otherwise, experts say it could have saved more lives.
