Nancy Pelosi's Husband Paul Pelosi Gets 5 Days in Jail for Drunk Driving Leading to Car Crash

Paul Pelosi, the 82-year-old husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was sentenced Tuesday to five days in jail for drunk driving related to a car crash in California in May.

However, the Los Angeles Times reported that Paul will not be receiving any jail time because he has already served two days in jail.

Napa County Superior Court Judge Joseph Solga said Nancy's husband has also received a conduct credit for two other days. Regarding the remaining day in jail, the judge has ordered him to spend the day through a court work program.

As the court work program converts the one day in jail, Paul's lawyer said his client must render eight hours of community service. According to Crime Online, Paul Pelosi was also sentenced to three years of probation.

Nancy Pelosi's Husband, Paul Pelosi, Pleads Guilty to Drunk Driving

Paul Pelosi pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol, causing injury. The husband of Nancy Pelosi crashed his black 2021 Porsche into an incoming Jeep in Napa County.

He was sent to jail following the crash on May 28. The court already counted this jail time in handing his sentence. According to BBC, Paul Pelosi, taking the guilty plea, has spared him of a more serious charge.

In addition, he was also required to attend a three-month course on drunk driving and was ordered to pay around $7,000 in restitution. However, Paul will not be losing his driver's license but will be required to use an ignition device on his car that requires a breath sample alcohol test before the engine can start.

Solga, who handed the sentence, also dismissed a second charge against Paul for driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08%. Paul Pelosi was not in court when the verdict was announced.

At the time of the crash, Nancy Pelosi was in Rhode Island. She was delivering a graduation speech at Brown University. Her office declined to comment about the matter, saying it was a "private matter."

Paul Pelosi had a history of car crashes. He also got involved in an accident in northern California in February 1957, when his sports car flipped over. His 19-year-old brother, David, who was his passenger, died in the accident.
