SNAP Benefits 2022: You Can Get More Than Just Food Stamps With Your Texas, California EBT Cards
SNAP benefits 2022, formerly known as food stamps, used Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards to deposit the SNAP benefits payments to recipients. However, the recipient's EBT card can be used for other things in Texas and California aside from being the usual food stamps.
In Texas, EBT cards are called the Lone Star Card and can be used to buy food, ingredients, seeds, and non-alcoholic beverages, according to GOBanking Rates.
Being qualified for SNAP benefits 2022 in Texas can make you eligible for benefits across the state other than a discounted Amazon Prime membership.

Texas EBT Card
Using your Texas EBT card may have you eligible for a free or discounted museum entry the next time you visit the Discovery Place Interactive Museum in Texarkana.
You can also visit the Galveston Children's Museum on Broadway in Galveston and the National Museum of the Pacific War for free or with a discount.
Also included in the list are the International Museum of Art & Science, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, and the LBJ Library and Museum, among others.
Lone Star card holders can also receive up to a $30 discount on their internet service provider if the company participates in the Affordable Connectivity Program.
The program provides a one-time $100 discount on a qualified laptop, desktop computer, or tablet.
Texas EBT cardholders can also qualify for the Lifeline Program, which serves around 13 million Americans.
Several cell phone providers participate in the state of Texas, with eligible customers getting at least $9.25 toward their monthly bill.
Food Stamps Now noted that qualified customers could use the program for either phone or internet service, but not both.
Texans qualified for food stamps might also be eligible for Energy Assistance, a program that helps low-income residents meet immediate energy needs.
California EBT Card
The SNAP benefit payments program in California is called CalFresh. Like in Texas, it also offers other benefits to those eligible for the SNAP program.
GOBanking Rates reported that discounts for computers, internet, or cell phones can be provided to SNAP recipients and households who earn less than 200% of federal poverty guidelines.
The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) allows eligible CalFresh recipients to receive up to a $30 per month discount on internet service and up to a $75 per month discount if a household is on qualifying Tribal lands.
California also has a specific program that can help recipients with food stamp benefits: the Farmers Markets.
According to Food Stamps Now, participating farmers' markets will match what recipients spend with their EBT card, up to a certain amount per visit.
It would mean doubling customers' buying power and allowing them to get twice as much food and pay only half the price.
The program is also called Market Match or Double Up Food Bucks. The Farmers' Markets program will double the first $10 you spend per visit, giving beneficiaries $20 worth of food.
