Chloe Grace Moretz claimed that she "became a recluse" because of "horrible" memes that circulated in 2016, comparing her figure to a "Family Guy" joke.

"For a long time, I was able to be the Chloe that people see and the Chloe that I am in private," Moretz told Hunger magazine of a time before the viral memes circulated online. "Then those two worlds collided, and I felt raw and vulnerable and open," she added.

The "Carrie" star noted that the meme, where she was walking into a hotel while carrying a pizza box, got edited to resemble a character from "Family Guy" with a short torso and long legs. She said it was one of the most viral memes at the time, Insider reported.

Chloe Grace Moretz Dealt With the 'Family Guy' Meme Alone

Chloe Grace Moretz revealed that she tried to bring up how she felt at that time. However, they just told her to "shut the fuck up" because "it's funny."

"And I just remember sitting there and thinking, my body is being used as a joke, and it's something that I can't change about who I am, and it is being posted all over Instagram," she noted

According to the 25-year-old "Kickass" actress, it was "something so benign" as walking into a hotel with leftovers, and until this day, she cannot get over it.

Body dysmorphia, which many people are dealing with today, is being extrapolated by social media, Moretz said, describing it as a "headf**k," the IndieWire reported.

Where Does the Chloe Grace Moretz 'Family Guy' Meme Come From?

In 2016, Chloe Grace Moretz was photographed by the paparazzi as she walked while holding a pizza box, wearing a black shirt, black shorts, and black high heels.

People on the internet changed the photo so that Moretz's legs looked longer and her torso looked shorter. The picture was then put side-by-side with the "Family Guy" character "Legs Go All The Way Up" Griffin from a 2011 episode.

The character's upper body is small, and his legs go all the way up to her chest. Following the viral meme, Moretz revealed that she felt "kind of sad," and she stopped enjoying taking pictures on red carpets.

Moretz noted that it took a layer of something that she used to enjoy, which was "getting dressed up and going to a carpet and taking a photo, and made me super self-conscious." Moretz also said she did not want to be in the spotlight because she was afraid of being photographed, Fox News reported.

"I basically became a recluse," Moretz noted. However, she said being a recluse was fantastic because it allowed her to escape the paparazzi, be herself, and have many adventures that nobody photographed.

She noted that the memes made her anxious when she was photographed, and she would start hyperventilating with her heart rate increasing. Meanwhile, Chloe Grace Moretz said the lockdown allowed her to take a break from her career, saying it was a "time of introspection."

"To say that these past two years have been transformative is an understatement, to say the least. I'm a very different girl than I was. I feel like a woman now," the actress concluded.
