Mexican actor Pablo Lyle, who has starred in various telenovelas and the Netflix series "Yankee," was found guilty by a Florida jury of killing a 63-year-old Cuban national during a road rage confrontation in 2019.

Juan Ricardo Hernandez Sr. died four days after Lyle punched him, causing a fractured skull and internal bleeding. His family reportedly allowed doctors to disconnect him from a respirator.

Mexican Actor Pablo Lyle Cut Off by Cuban Man on the Road, Leading to Road Rage Incident

The incident happened on March 31, 2019, in the middle of a Miami intersection. An argument provoked the 35-year-old Mexican actor after his vehicle was allegedly cut off by Juan Ricardo Hernandez Sr.'s vehicle. That led to the punch that ended the Cuban man's life.

According to NBC affiliate WFLA, Pablo Lyle maintained that he acted in self-defense and was trying to protect his children when he punched Hernandez in the head. He also argued that he was afraid that Hernandez had a gun. However, authorities found that Hernandez was unarmed and suffered a traumatic brain injury from that punch to the head.

Surveillance footage from the incident was presented during the case. The video showed that after Hernandez's vehicle was cut off by Lyle's car, the Cuban abandoned his car at a red light and approached the window of the Mexican actor's vehicle.

The driver, Lyle's brother, Lucas Delfino, got out of his car and argued with Hernandez. As they argued, Lyle was waiting inside the car with his wife and two daughters. However, when the vehicle started moving, Delfino returned to the driver's seat to avoid crashing into other vehicles. That was when Lyle got out of the car, ran towards Hernandez, and punched him in the face.

Hernandez was then left lying on the floor alone as the actor and his family drove away. A few hours later, Pablo Lyle was arrested and detained at Miami International Airport, where he was waiting to travel to Mexico.

The Case of Mexican Actor Pablo Lyle and the Verdict

Pablo Lyle decided not to take the stand, and his attorney Phillip Reizenstein rested on Monday. Reizenstein showed a picture of the actor, wife, and three children, telling the jury that the case was about "fear."

However, Assistant State Attorney Gabriela Alfaro argued that this case was all about "rage," adding that the "punch Mr. Lyle did actually caused the victim to fall back to hit his head and to crack open his skull, and ultimately those injuries caused his death."

Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle told the Associated Press said two lives were destroyed "by simple roadway anger," adding that the jury verdict "shows the outrageous destructiveness of 'road rage' incidents."

According to the Daily Mail, it took the jury in Miami over four hours to deliver its verdict on Tuesday. Lyle was found guilty of manslaughter. Circuit Judge Marisa Tinkler Mendez ordered the actor to be jailed. He is reportedly facing between nine and 15 years in prison.

Before his arrest, Pablo Lyle appeared in various telenovelas such as "Verano de amor," "Una familia con suerte," and "Corazón que miente." He also played Malcolm Moriarty in the Netflix crime show "Yankee."
