There was no evidence that suggested there was foul play, and authorities have determined that Kiely Rodni's death was accidental.

According to KCRA, Rodni had been missing for two weeks when her body and car were found at Prosser Creek Reservoir in Truckee, California, in August. The search for Rodni got a lot of attention from people all over the country.

Kiely Rodni's Cause of Death

The Nevada County Sheriff's Office coroner's division said that Rodni died of drowning.

"As always, our office will continue to work with the family by evaluating any additional information related to this investigation," the sheriff's office said in a release Thursday.

Rodni went missing on August 6 after going to a big party with about 300 young adults and teens at the Prosser Family Campground near the reservoir, where her body and car were later found.

She texted her mother at 11:30 p.m. to let her know she would be late getting home. The authorities confirmed that her phone died just after midnight, San Francisco Chronicle noted.

Her disappearance sparked a massive search involving multiple law enforcement organizations, including the FBI, throughout the Truckee-Tahoe region.

Initially, officials believed she might have been kidnapped because neither she nor her automobile was seen leaving the gathering.

According to the coroner, there was nothing else to show that she had been a victim of foul play. He also stated that their office would keep working with the family by investigating additional information about the case.

The California teen's autopsy was conducted in August, over two weeks after she was reported missing.

Family Releases a Statement on Kiely Rodni's Death

The Rodni-Nieman family released a statement following Kiely's death.

"We are eternally grateful for the love and support you have shown us in the last couple of weeks," the statement begins.

The family thanked the army of warriors, matriarchs, healers, and helpers that helped them as they weathered the storm of unfathomable force.

The statement also said that the family has not had to look for helpers as everyone came to their rescue in full force, ABC 10 noted.

"While we accept this sadness cast under death's shadow, the rising sun shines light upon us, reminding us not to mourn our loss but to celebrate Kiely's spirit and the gift we all received in knowing her. Kiely will surely remain with us even though we will not get her back," the statement continues.

Meanwhile, authorities have not disclosed what caused the automobile to end up in the water.

Authorities in Nevada and Placer counties, assisted by volunteers, began a thorough search for the teen after she was reported missing.

According to Sacramento Bee, nearly 20,000 hours were devoted to the search by the authorities. Investigators received more than 1,800 tips from the public about Kiely's disappearance.

The Honda CR-V was discovered upside down in 14 feet of water with a body inside. The diving team from Adventures with Purpose found the truck 55 feet offshore, less than a quarter mile south of the campground. They said they had been in the water with sonar boats for 35 minutes.
