11-Year-Old Girl Impregnated by 46-Year-Old Man May Have Been Raped While Sleeping | DNA Confirms He's the Baby's Father
A 12-year-old girl recently gave birth, and DNA testing reportedly showed that the baby's father is a 46-year-old man.
Crime Online reported that Richard Welch of Brandon, Vermont, was arraigned this week on charges of aggravated sexual assault on a child after DNA evidence showed that he had fathered a child with the young girl.
According to The Reporter, the man pleaded not guilty in Rutland criminal court on Wednesday. The victim was reportedly impregnated at age 11 and gave birth on June 30.
She allegedly tried to hide her pregnancy with a belly harness and initially told police in Vermont that she was not sexually active. The victim also said she sometimes sleepwalks but does not remember anything after waking up and attributed her stomach to being "chubby" despite not having her period since December.
The girl's father got photos of his visibly-pregnant daughter and told the Brandon police about it, which also prompted the Child First Advocacy Center (CFAC) in Rutland County to get involved in August.
The victim's father further noted that he has joint custody with the child's mother. He said he had not seen his daughter since May, as the child's mother was withholding visitation.
Police allegedly advised the victim's mother to seek medical attention for her daughter and her unborn baby during the girl's pregnancy. It was then confirmed that the girl was approximately 38 weeks pregnant.

12-Year-Old Girl Impregnated by 46-Year-Old Man Richard Welch
The girl said during a CFAC interview that she was aware of the sexual intercourse act through discussions with other children and sexual education at school.
In subsequent interviews, she started to say that Welch might be the father of her baby but denied that she had sex with Welch. However, she noted that maybe something happened "while she was sleeping."
The girl said she was a "pretty hard sleeper" and did not wake up to anything "other than the smoke alarm," according to The Reporter. Welch told police that the girl got into bed with him on multiple occasions and that he sleeps naked. However, he claimed to have been dealing with erectile dysfunction for some time.
The girl's mother suggested that her daughter could have become pregnant at her father's house. However, she also acknowledged previous sexual assault allegations against Welch.
The affidavit said the man "stuck his penis inside one of her kid's mouths, and she had laughed at it," which the mom claimed was not true. DNA test results proved that the father of the girl's baby is not her father, and it is Welch.
Both the girl's father and Welch took voluntary DNA tests, and the results showed that Welch was "72 trillion times more likely to be the child's father." Richard Welch remains jailed without bail.
Texas Man Sexually Abused Ex-Girlfriend's Daughter
In Texas, a man was sentenced to life in prison after he also impregnated his ex-girlfriend's daughter. Milton Geovany Valle, 45, was found guilty of continuous trafficking of a person by a jury, KKTV reported.
He did not testify during trial but insisted he was innocent after his sentencing and called the outcome "an unjust verdict." The victim, who is now 18, testified that Valle would give her clothes such as electronic tablets, cell phones, clothes, shoes, and cash when she was with him.
The teen added that she did not know she was pregnant until she went to a hospital's emergency room with leg and back pains when she was 15 in November 2019.
The girl's younger sister testified she saw the Texas man sexually assaulting her sister on two occasions. She said she told their mom about it but did not believe her. DNA tests also confirmed that Valle is the child's father.
